Yes it is the whole centre casing.
Yes it says A on the build plate, that's the new code for "G" series diff, and it is a G-series diff and will fit any G-series housing (100% sure).

The new HiAce vans still use the old diff code. They have a G282 diff. (8" 4.3:1 open). That is RZH113 vans and the like.
It seams every other vehicle has gone to the new mysterious diff code. I havn't worked it out yet. B at the end means LSD, A means open.
New HiLux 2wd's have a A01A diff code. This is RZN149, RZN154 etc.
New HiLux 4wd's have a A03B diff code from memory. But I don't think you can just call it a "A" series diff. Something else is up with the code. eg:
FZJ105 'Cruiser = A04B
GRJ120 Prado = A03B
SR40 Spacier van = A03A
RZN154 hilux = A01A
HZJ75 'Cruiser = K085 (old code)
MX83 (7M-GE) LSD = G315 (old code)
New Corolla (south africa) diff code = G770

I don't know much about the IRS diff and the new codes, but I know the 2001 Hilux diff can bolt on to the 1975 model Hilux diff housing, and run.

Having done that exact swap recently I can confirm hiaa's statement that his diff fits early G series Hilux housings.

Gxx9 (Torsen) compared to BxxB centre.
Both A and G centres run a 200mm crown wheel whilst the B series runs a 220mm crown wheel.

using this LSD center in my 3.9 open diff to make a 3.9 LSD? everything a straight swap? no changing of axles etc? it's all the same fittings? fuck i wish i knew about this stuff.

yeah i've searched and searched and i can't any info regarding open to LSD center swaps with G series diffs. any links would be great!
The 3.9 is out of an MA70 turbo Auto. The car is a Limited GT supra, whatever that means, i would of expected it to have an LSD standard.
