Nulon red vs Toyota red coolant Mon, 17 May 2004 13:05 Go to next message
Have any of you guys tried the new Nulon red coolant?

I am sick of paying a fortune for the Toyota red coolant and saw the new Nulon red stuff on the net... according to Nulons site it is rated to Toyota red standards.

Any thoughts on this coolant good bad or otherwise?

Yeah but I end up changing coolant quite regularly as I have to empty the intercooler every time I want to check the plugs etc.

I strongly recommend against using Nulon red coolant in your intercooler.

The coolant MR.2 speaks of is the imatation of toyota long life coolant i believe.

it is similar if not exact same as the toyota long life i think.
its abit cheaper too.

toyota long life coolant goes for around 44 bucks down here
i think the jap car coolant is around 35 bucks.
so i dont think it matters either way

Sorry guys but coolant is not coolant.
We stock 7 different Tectaloy inhibitors & if we mix one of 5 with one of the other two, there will be a reaction that will have the radiator out, probably within 12 months, certainly in hot climates.
Mixing them is asking for trouble & their job is important these days. Check file://C:\Documents%20and%20Settings\Richard%20And erson\My%20Documents\My%20Webs\Hor\horror_pictures .htm
for viual proof of what happens far too often.

Yes - guilty. I try not to stay out of replying to posts, but some are too important. 3 goes to get a link up - just as well I do. Had to sell the 1j23 too. Not happy.

thems some nasty pics on that site
the rest of the site is a good read too, especially the page on "intercoolers...a must read"

anyways, i use the same crap as V8_MA61, no worries so far
even when i found half of it had leaked out through a dicky thermostat thingo seal she kept cooling just fine(as a result i fanatically check my coolant and oil every day now Razz)

The problem with dodgy coolant is you often don't know it's dodgy until it's already done permanent damage to your engine. I don't take any chances, I use Toyota red and nothing else because I know it will protect my engine. So maybe it costs me an extra $20 every 6 months when I flush my coolant, but that's not much to pay for peace of mind is it?
