Recomendations on Toyota Ute for a 1J

Anyone got any good recommendations on what toyota utes would best suit a 1j ,......reg will be in Vic so shouldn't be to hard to obtain if the conversion is kept simple and neat
I don't want to get stuck into cutting fire walls or altering steering etc etc basically looking at just being able to alter the basics,eg engine mounts ,.gearbox cross, radiators, ...exhaust ,... wiring loom etc
My knowledge of toyota ute's sucks but i am open to year models age etc
Dual cabs 4x4 or 2 wheel drives ,.....i'm leaning on the 2wheel drive models though
Any suggestions or Pro's Con's would be great,.....also pics of particular utes
ohh also particular 1j models ,...KW outputs ,..$ figures etc
I presume there is prob several different models
thanks
J

it probably dont fit your requirements of not having to cut/mod stuff but a stout with a 1j would be nice!!

1J would be the go in a 2wd ute ..
I think it would be a very very sweet converion outside of making it a strip woarrior with the motor from your ta22 ..
Auto would be easierr to as most motors seem to be sourced with an auto ..
I cant see it being impossible seeing theres a heap of space under there ..
Go for it jamie ! 2WD 2jz/1jz auto hilux towmobile! !!

slylux has a 1JZ in a third generation type hilux i.e. after 1989 i think. Im pretty sure he had to convert it to single turbo because of clearance issues.
Other than a hliux what about those early Crown utes, they are cool.

stilux, that's him.
sorry bout my crassness last night man - not your fault, I was just in a really shitty mood.
there are 3 sump types for the 1jz, and you'll have to find out which one will suit a hilux best (almost certainly a front-sump type... the rarest )

I have a 1993 (3rd gen.) Hilux 2x4 with a 1JZ Manual. It is out of a JZA70 Supra. If you have any question I'll do my best to help. It is a great conversion.

If you guys think that my Crown Wagon is rare try and fing a ute. If you do find one jamie that you don't want I'll take it.
If you do go with a crown you'll need to get the single turbo 1J or do a single turbo conversion as there are clearance issue's with the steering box.
If you got a Stout the 1G fits in Rod measured it. That would make one tuff truck.
