ok, this is a big gromit question I know, but what do "tubbed" and "untubbed" mean, and is this the same as yogi's "tubs" which were mentioned in a post sometime way back

"Tubbed" means the wheelarches and part of the floorpan has been cut out and new, larger wheelarches have been welded in their place. This is done to make room for huge tyres on drag cars.

And I think Yogi's got mini tubs. Although I don't know what classifies tubbing as "mini" or the full tubbing....

And remember if you fit any kind of tubs to your car and then take it to a drag strip, you will be in a whole new class!

aahhh, thanks so a 9 second untubbed 808 is probably running relatively small wheels or at least, smaller than the ford I saw the other day with 305's on the back

Yeah I would say that is correct! And running a 10 second pass in a untubbed car is more of an accomplishment than running a 10 second pass in a tubbed car!

I'm pretty sure that a mini tub is only about the same width as the original or a maybe a little bigger and without moving the suspension.
Full tubs are really really big and involve moving your susupension points inward furhter cause you have big mutha wheels in the way! your car will then handle a bit like a land cruiser....or my 720!
in regard to the Ford with 305's, depending on the model you can fit them under there just by squaring off the inner guards and pulling the outers out a little bit. I think you can get 12" rims and those size tyres under an xa-xc coupe then

it was one of the BIG old dirty fords... sounded amazing tho, and with wheels like that I'm assuming it could go
the main reason I asked was because of the 808 mazda with "untubbed chassis in full street trim", so I wondered what the hell untubbed was
