wiper resevoir and spark cover Sat, 22 May 2004 11:19 Go to next message
guys.. i wanted to know if anybody knows where i can get a rubber seal for my wiper resevoir. the existing seal has eroded and my wiper resevoir just leaks itself empty and i need a replacement. anybody know where i could find it? i've attached an image of what i am referring to.

it's for a 94 camry. you may also notice that it has a hole in the top which also allows it to leak upon heavy braking. can i patch this up with some glue or something (any ideas)? or will i have to purchase a new resevoir?

also, i wanted to know if i can respray this spark cover as the paint is peeling off (looks dull) and it looks terrible. i wanted to paint it black and wanted to know what sort of heat resistant spray paint would do the job and not peel/burn off in a year or two?

where could I find a nut for this cover (allen key head), i am missing one and would like to find the missing a replacement.

thanks fellas...

I'd also be curious to know how to patch a hole in the reservoir.
my jap wiper bottle has a long, narrow hole in it, and they're bloody hard to find (fortunately about 1/4 the size of the "novelty" sized ma61 one)

supacheap sell replacement window washer pumps - they come with seals for the pump...is possible they sell them seals only - will be in same place as the replacement wiper/washer pumps.

.. or just go to the wreckers and stuffa few in your pocket as you cruise the yard for some other, hard to find/remove part that costs you $2.

regular automotive acrylic paint will do just make sure you prepare and prime it properly.
as for the allen headed nuts do you know what thread it is M5,M6 or M8? i have some in M6, stainless ones that are nice but you should be able to find some at a good industrial nut and bolt supplier

thanks for all the feedback guys.. really appreciated.. Very Happy Very Happy

alainve: how do i know what the thread number is? Is it measured in millimetres (bolt diameter)? How is it measured?
as for the cover, is it better to use a brush with paint instead of spraypaint? as for the priming, you are referring to a white non oil based undercoat?

thechuckster: thanks for the yard tip.. i'll definitely keep it in mind when i head down there Smile

rob: cheers mate, got some selleys silicon in the garage, will do it tonight Smile

ok to find out the thread pull a bolt out the top of your guard(they are M6 95% of the time) and see if it bolts into the nut your looking to replace
or alternativeley take the nut to your local nut and bolt supplier and say you want another just like it.

as for the paint go to supercheap or somewhare like that buy
1 can of plastic primer
1 can of eithr primer putty or primer surfacer
1 can of whatever colour you want to paint it in.(just make sure its the automotive ones not that enamel cheap crap shit stuff)

hope that helps
