Wholy shit, that's awesome.
I heard a similar story about some guys who where putting a V8 into a RX7 (don't ask me why). Apparently they drained the oil out of the 13B and ran it at redline. They took bets on how long it would last, but all of them lost when it was still going half an hour later (or something like that).
Someone wanna correct my story? I'm sure the particulars are incorrect.

a Uni did a similar test on an otherweise stock 12a motor, they encloded it in a perpex cage, ran it on an engine dydno with oil and water systems, devised up a crude carby (read open and wide) that would supply the air, had extractors and thats it, they wanted to see how many RPM they could get before it blew up. The result? 22.7K rpm!! and it held that for a few minutes before exploding in a BIG way it pretty much distroyed everything including the perpex cage it was in. Pretty impressive too.

i recall seeing a story about bikers (harley et al) at a Purga Creek event trying to kill some unsuspecting Honda C90 (postie bike).
they wedged the front wheel in a tree-stump, wired the throttle open and dumped the oil - took about 1/2 hour to die.

1985 daihatsu charade, carby, sohc, 996cc, 3 cylinder, turbo - no intercooler.
Ran 14psi of boost for months before the head gasket blew because of low coolant.
Was also revved in first gear when the pedal got stuck behind some loose carpet and went right past the 8000rpm on the tacho and stayed there for a few seconds untill the nuts on the tappets vibrated loose so it was only running on 1 cylinder. this was fixed in an arvo and good as new the next day.
come to think of it that whole car, not just the engine, got the biggest thrashing ever.
