TA22 Mod Help

I have just started looking at further upgrading my TA22 from a shitty 18R to a 3TGTEU. I want to look at upgrading brakes and fuel line, is the cornana/ pug /hilux the best way on improving the front brakes?? Can you use the springs and shockies from TA22 struts on new?? I have 15 inch mags, will they fit over calipers??
For decent power on the 3T do you need surge tank or just a large pump? what is the best size piping for fuel lines??

Your asking too many questions at the same time, sorry. I surgest you do nothing for a while, read some more websites or Zoom magazine. There is a few websites about for info about 3T-GTE instalations. Read them.
Also look at your ID plate once again. Is that realy a TA22, and do you realy have a 18R?

Yep i do have 18R engine in a TA22 as put in myself (not the easiest thing to do!)
With upgrading the engine I will need to upgrade the brakes, is the listed pug/hilux/corona mod the best way to go or is there another simpler way that someone has done??

I reckon what I did was simpler... adapted MA61 Supra hubs/rotors and calipers to the RA23 strut. You can find full details on my web site.

yes, for the price and for the ease of the conversion, the pug/hilux/corona brake conversion is probably the best!!! i have recently one this conversion on my TA22 (look at my avatar)...
the corona struts can be fitted into your TA22 without mods but it will mean that you will loose approx 1 inch of suspension travel, which is no good on a lowered car!! and no you cannot use the TA22 springs unless you chop them down. what the best option here is to have the strut itself shortened to regain the suspension travel, and have the spring clamp rewelded lower so the TA22 springs will be the right length/height...
so if you are prepared to do this conversion, there are many mods that may also need to be looked at, such as custom disc machining, master cylinder mods, etc.
oh and 15 inch wheels will deffinately fit!!!

Is your mod just the standard mod of corona/hilux/pug without the extending the suspension ride? If so is handling any good? Does the spring bottom out often??

i currently have the corona struts in my TA22 unmodified. to fit this i had to cut a coil and a half off my already 2 inch lowered whiteline springs so that it sits at the right height. this is not ideal by any streatch of the imagination. the suspension travel is about total of 1 inch at this ride height. as for the handling... it sucks. apart from the annoying bumpsteer that is normal, i think the camber is way out...
my plans are to soon have the camber found and then have the struts bent so that there is correct camber. i will have them shortened and the spring clamp adjusted so that the modified corona struts are the exact dimentions as the TA22 struts. i'll then use new springs suited to a TA22 and it should all be right.
