no, it'd be a different engine Wink

it's similar to ANY engine conversion with an engine that was not designed for the car.

nowhere near the same as sr20det - the sr20det is an alloy motor the ca18det is a cast iron block/alloy head to begin with.

would make a good little package though i reckon - i personally like the ca18det motors...

watch the coil packs though expensive if they fail...

Seeing as though the SR20 is a bolt in replacement for the CA18, I would say that it is the same as the SR20 conversion.

cool 1 the sr20 and the ca18 are completly different they are not bolt in, its a matter of changing engine mounts.

also with the ca18dets the head gasgets also are very prone to blowing....

Well I didnt have any trouble replacing a CA18 with an SR20. Also the CA18 is a much better engine for performance work.

fair enough i know that if you have an ca18 silva / 180 the sr20 will not go in with out chaning engine mounts, i dont know how many mounts or what mounts but i know they have to be changed thats why most ppl put an rb20 in to replace the ca18

Anyway it makes no difference. The original question was is the CA18 the same as the SR20 conversion. The answer is yes, everything that has to be done to fit an SR20 has to be done to fit the CA18. Just a little different.
