TA22- Nasty Clips. Mon, 24 May 2004 05:50 Go to next message
Hey guys,
I'm doing some preparation on my TA22 for it to be resprayed.

I've taken off one of the chrome skirting strips that runs along the car body beneath the door. On one side i pulled it off pretty roughly, and it left about 5 plastic clips in the car body. This clips seem to push in to small circular holes but aren't designed to be removed.

Does anyone have any tips or advice on how i can remove these strips and plastic clips?

Also, any words of wisdom about removing the antenna located in the front left of the car body?

Cheers,
kris

well it depends on whether you want to put them back on or not
u could always respray over em and reuse em that way, or take em off and bog the holes

antenna comes off by undoing the but holding it ontop of the guard
then from under the wheelarch take off the plastic wheel guard held there with screws and u will see the bottom of the antenna

hey thanks for the fast reply.

No i don't want to use them again.

I've lost 2 of the clips inside the car body now... can't seem to grab them to pull them out.. even the clips still in the holes.

Thanks for the help. I'm going to check out that antenna now.
Are antennas necessary with new stereos in the city?

cheers,
kris

dont worry about the clips being in the car lost. its not like they weigh alot or gonna make rattling noises.
just bog the holes, and ur laughing

yeh with the radios u need an antenna. disconnect the one from ur tv and see how good of a picture u get, same applies with the car. best bet if u dont like antennas is get an electric one. and they look cool how they go up and down themselves

A mate had little holes left on his escort after removing the strips, Instead of bogging up the holes he put pop-rivets in....
looked kinda kool but not sure i'de do it.
