3TGTE is easier to fit because it was originally RWD, whereas a 4AGZE is only mounted east west in FWD corollas & MR2's. With a GZE you'll also have to change the flywheel & clutch, as it doesnt fit inside the RWD gearbox bellhousing.
Heaps more room left in the bay with a 4AGZE though, mine looks rediculously small sitting where the 3TGTE used to be.
I think there are more parts available locally for the GZE. They share a lot in common with the naturally aspirated 4AGE in regards to gaskets etc.

Can i ask why you changed from 3T to 4AGZE engine?? Can you get the same power from 4AGZE?? or has the 3TGTEU have more options for power expansion

if you want to keep the care light put the 4gze or build a 4agte, this will make a great balanced car. or if you want to spend less fit a 1ggte, but the balacne can never be the same. mick

reasons I DONT like the 3TGTE (anymore)
- expensive to initially purchase - old design (8 valve head) pushrod block - heavy, large block & head - weak pistons - not as reliable at high revs (7k+) - antiquated fuel only computer - hard to source parts, read: expensive! - noisy valvetrain/timing chain setup - bulky distributor & twin coil setup, 8 plugs
reasons i DO like the late model 4AGZE
- cheap! & far more common than 3TGTE - shares many parts with naturally aspirated 4AGE - compact design, light weight - 16 valve non-interference head - better fuel & ignition computer - direct fire ignition - many aftermarket parts available - forged, ceramic coated pistons from factory - love to rev! restricted only by supercharger setup
just my opinion. I'm sure others have different experiences, both good & bad with each motor.
Cheers

Is there any benefits between 4AGE 20 valve and 4AGZE?? Is it simpler to install 4AGE 20 valve or does the 4AGZE have advantages of easier hp mods?

4AGTE is sounding good what are the difficulties at installing into TA22? I have read that the inlet is the most shitty part is it true??

It doesn't have pushrods, BUT the 3TGTE shares the same block as the rest of the 3T family.
Now, a 3T has a single cam and pushrods, and what Phil was getting at is that the 3TGTE block is a little larger than need be because the block has the tunnel bored in it for the 'in block' cam and pushrods, regardless of which 3T engine in the family it is. 2T's are the same deal, same block for the twin cams and the pushrod versions, just the bearing journals for the cam that would be located in the block have their oil ports blocked off in the twin cam versions.

my apologies TE72
does anyone know someone who has put a 3TGTE in a KE corolla?
I'd really like to talk to someone who has.. im thinking about doing it..
What gearbox do 3T-GTE's use.. i think its T50 but i read somewhere that they are very unreliable.
Also what sort of diff can i fit to my KE55?? It currently has a borg warner.. but im going to need a stronger diff if running a 3T.. Keep in mind it has leaf springs.

3T-GTE used W55 gearbox from factory. A T50 can be fitted, by why would you want to? They are weak. Best to use the W55/7/8.
YelloRolla has one in a KE Corolla. Running low 11s I think?

Best to try contacting yellorolla on these forums as he has actually done it. Mine's in a RA28 which slipped straight in. But good chance the KE has a skinner tunnel?
