18R-G Exhaust Recommendations

Hey all,
I'll soon be looking at getting an exhaust for my fully rebuilt 18R-G once the celica is ready to be on the road. Just wanting to know your opinions and suggestions on the size I should get. The old man is a mechanic and wants to go a 2.5" system, but from some threads I've read on here that may be a touch too big?
I have a large set of extractors that look like they went into a 2.25" pipe, but they are fat enough to easily weld them up to a 2.5" pipe.
Shall I go for 2.25" or 2.5"?

Id say 2 1/4 would be quite big enough for what you have....just straight though pipe with a muffler at the end but please...NOT A CANON

2 1/4 Should be plenty big enough. Most of mine have run 2inch however the current one runs 2 1/4.
Stick a 3inch dump pipe out the back. looks pretty good IMO.

i have a straight thru 2 inch system off my pacemakers and under the diff with a matt black muffler and sleeper straight chrome 2" tip, plenty of flow for the injected 18R-GEU in my opinion until it is worked.. under the diff and not many bends made a big difference, and 2 straight thru resi's to give it a good note..
heaps happy with it for now..

There's no point going larger than the collector pipe of your extractors. If it's 2.25", that's the largest size pipe you should install.

I had a 2" system from the extractors with 2 turbo style mufflers made the engine quiet and seemed to let it flow really well. It had no problems hitting 6.5-7000 RPM and got there pretty quick.
