Embarassed
Parents went away so i thought i'd be cool and park on their side of the garage as its got electric doors, only obstacle as you reverse up the steep as shit hill is a retaining wall that juts out. One morning in a rush to get to work whilst still half asleep i was too busy watching out for the retaining wall and turned too much before the front had left the garage.... so i smashed up the front left guard just a tad. Needless to say i don't park on that side anymore.

Are they 16's Rod? How wide?
I want to run 7 inch wide wheels on the back so i'm thinking that 16's might be a tad to large to be able to have it lowered enough.

Re: TA22 with 16's Thu, 27 May 2004 11:39 Go to previous messageGo to next message
Shane,

They are 16 x 6" all round in that one mate. Front tyres are a 205/40 and they only just fit under the spring base. Keep in mind I have adjustable spring bases but they are stillthe factory size, the car sits dead on 100mm off the ground. The rears fit with plenty of room to spare (further inwards) Rear tyres are 205/45. Something to throw a spanner in the mix tho.... Legal tyre fitment options are sweet FA for a 16 x 6" rim. The 205's with that small an aspect ratio are legally only able to be fitted to a 6.5" rim or bigger. But if I fit the right size aspect ratio my tyre package doesn't meet the OD requirements for engineering.

I have since had the rears widened out to 7" but I haven't fitted them yet. The new tyre combo will be 195/50's on the front and either 225/45 or 205/50 on the rear. (I have to check the fitment requirements). The 195/50's are hard to get but will be a legal option in all regards. Smile

This is a sheet I did to make my engineering easier and I keep it in the glovebox to shut the boys in blue up. Notice it says nothing about legal rim fitments Wink

http://www.toymods.org.au/~rod/Technical%20Info/To yota%20Celica%20TA22%20Tire%20options.doc

A 7" rim will fit under the back no worries if you get the right offset wheels. I have had alot wider under some of my old girls. Wink

Mate any lower and you would have next to no travel left in the suspension. Unless you repositioned the mounts ??

Fronts rims would have some serious turning issues any lower. My guard lips are NOT rolled and its just touches on really step angled turns (ie mongrel driveways)

Besides at 100mm ground clearance you slam enough of the road not to want to go any lower !

Re: TA22 with 16's Thu, 27 May 2004 12:22 Go to previous messageGo to next message
Mate my suspension is that hard it doesn't get to squat much. Diff hitting the floor pan is the major issue. Hence why I have had adjustable top arms made to adjust the angle of the diff pinion. That way I get more travel before impact.

If I ever getthe bugger going again I'll check it out for you.
