Connectors from 1JZ half cut Tue, 25 May 2004 14:42 Go to next message
Looking for a couple of connectors to plug into a 1J engine loom. Ideally someone who has purchased a half-cut & removed the engine & loom should have the connectors I am looking for lying around in their empty half-cut.

On the 1J schematics, they are referred to as:
IG1 - 2 rows of 11 pins
IH1 - 4 rows, 15 pins total, 3 big fat ones in the centre column

Regards

Peter

I have a 1JZ front cut here now.
Email me with the details, and we can get them out for you today if needed.

Im going to guess your talking about the Dash loom plugs?

If thats the case, im pretty sure the little yellow plug was wired up as a sub harness to plug straight into the MA61 dash loom where you remove the 5me/ge loom

You guessed right.
The problem is that the little yellow plug doesn't appear on any schematics I have ever laid my hands on for a MA61.
I have a strong suspicion that the little yellow socket that it is supposed to plug into was also grafted onto the chassis loom. Hence it looked like a plug in/out job but wasn't.
I guess the only way is to rip out the glovebox & hunt around for the 'little yellow socket' (although I thought I did that a few months ago & couldn't find anything that remotely resembled it).
Thanks for the tip though.

Peter

It IS an actual plug ripped from a 5ME MA61 loom. It's the connector between the 5ME dash harness and the 5ME ecu harness.

This was done to make it a plugin affair for a 5ME MA61. If your's doesn't have this plug, then i would just cut the connector off (on the ECU side of the connector) leaving it in the car and splice into the existing plug harness.

ie. just use the existing plug you have in your car.

Depending on how you wire it up, you will probably only need to wire up temp gauge and tacho...assuming you have the digital dash.

I have about 30 wires in that harness that im not using, we had to cut off the plugs to make it fit through the firewall anyway. Most of the wires were for gauges, ABS, and a bunch of other features our cars don't have.

Kristian - don't worry about them. For now I'll use terminal strips.

BlackSupra - I pulled mine apart and unfortunately, early 5MGE's with analogue dash have a completely different pair of connectors on the end of the engine loom, so I'll have to source them some other way.
Anyone know of a wrecked early model non-Aus MA61 with analogue dash?
