Hi, Just got myself a bargain (free) 1989 Cressida MX83 with 150k on the clock. Need (preferably factory) workshop manual. Toyota guy said that such thing is not available anymore. On Internet, I got only 7M-engine manual Anybody can help? Have no idea if American spec Creesida described in Clifton? series books are good enough as they are available @amazon.com Now some questions
1. How to remove rear speakers? Speaker’s grille sits on rear parcel shelf and no idea how they are mounted.
2. What is length of front springs compressed (in car)? or lenght from the ground to top of the weel arch. Looks like rear is higher then front. 3. Sometime, when engine is idling (500 rpm on car tacho but should be 800?) strange rumbling sound comes from the front engine area.Definitely, this is not water pump/air/and power steering pump. This sound is getting less noticeable when engine gets hot. Oil pump? Noise is out when travelling but sometimes comes back when accelerating. 4. Strange noise from auto when engine is on "park" Any idea what is it? Would be grateful if you can help. Regards Greg jyp1@bigpond.com

I work at Toyota so I have access to most manuals for cars that were brought out in Australia... I can't garantee you a new manual but I needed one for a 4A-GE so I went into the office and photocopied the entire manual... Shit... I just noticed your location... Bummer...

just did my rear speakers 2day unpop lower rear seat from catches and remove undo 10mm bolts on each side of the backrest (under the vynil flap on the lower corners, lift up the entire backrest off it's clamps and remove lift up and off parcel shelf !! done speakers sound better (clarion) , prolly mainly 'cos they actually have a cone now instead of air and bits of broken foam
just lowered mine 2inches at front and 3 at rear (see pics in sa section - post you ride) , the rear has gone abit too far (sits level with 1/4 tank petrol, ass heavy on full) so i'll have 2 make up 10-15mm spacers for the rear springs. down side is i need short struts now, apparently ae92 front strut inserts will fit with spacers in the bottom and will be the right height...

If anyone can spare or get a hold of a manual, photocopied or otherwise, and can send it down, I can pay for freight, etc. I can scan it into a pdf format for all the benefit from!...I think that might be a good idea, considering how many are starting to get these cars...just an idea though.

Hey Rolla Boy, If you can get hold of an MX83 manual, I'd also like one.
Not so much for the engine, as the 7M is long gone from my car, but I would especially like wiring diagrams for dash, transmission etc etc if possible. If you can get these, reply here and I'll be quite happy to pay postage etc.
Regards,

Hey Steve...
Don't mean to be pushy, but where are you at with your manual "scanning"?
It's just that the Cressida is being towed back to my place tommorrow (Yes, the 1UZ has been finally fitted etc) and now I need to wire it.
I especially need any diagrams of dash wiring and, in fact any wiring diagrams for the car at all would be helpful.
Again, my apologies for "pressing" the issue, but time is getting short to get this thing on the road.
If you like, you can email any PDFs or whatever you have to:
biased99@hotmail.com
Thanks in advance! (That's me looking out for your email... )

Folks, I'm less than a 100 pages in to the manual so far, as I can only do it when work is quiet, and at present I'm busier than the legendary one armed bricklayer. Oh the joys of working for yourself

Steve,
Thanks heaps...
BTW. For anyone looking out specifically for Cressida (MX83) wiring diags, I came across the following link in my travels...
http://narod.yandex.ru/100.xhtml?www.jnc.narod.ru/ data/wirdiag.zip
Now, firstly, the site is in Russian...Look for the part where it says "wirdiag.zip" Right-click and save as...
Note that the diags were done for "Electronics and Computers, El Camino Real Santa Clara CA..." Don't know if this means they are for an American market car or, indeed, if there's that much difference between the LHD and RHD versions.
Anyway, it's there if people want it.

Cant help with an actual manual, but can i suggest looking in antique shops?
I bought 3 manuals for my GS120 Crown in one for $30 each, and they were in almost pristine condition.
I also found some manuals for my MS57 Crown wagon as well, with plastic covering over the covers, and i saw some other books there, but no more toyota ones.
So, give them a shot.
Ya have nothing to lose.

Hey there,
Any luck in getting that MX83 Manual fully scanned in? I'm trying to work out why my Cressy doesn't 'idle up' when I put it into "D" - any ideas anybody? All the other idle ups work fine, the selector lights in the dash are fine and the Power ECT switch works fine. Aircon idle-up works fine too.
HELP!
Thanks
Johann

Hi, I'm new and have just got an inherited MX 83 Cressida - a nice metallic blue. It has a problem with the power steering I think as it makes a terrible groaning noise when the motor is cold and you touch the steering wheel. Did anyone actually get a manual or can you tell me where to download one. Tah

Actually, after some serious searching, just downloaded the Cressida MX83 manual in parts from this site http://www.reanimotion.com/toymods/techdata.htm - hope this helps people who are looking for one like I was.

I have access to the full factory manuals of the MX83's. My local Holden dealer (mate is the workshop manager) still has all the old books from when the joint was a Toyota dealership and I remember seeing the full set of MX83 stuff last time I was there.
I think there must be 3 or more to the set. Body/Chassis, Engine repair, Electrical and the Tranny book. I actually own the tranny book(RM211E)for the A340E and aswell as the A343H(4runner).
One day I'll borrow them and get handy with the scanner. I just need someone with some decent webspace.
