Someone asked this exact same question like a week or two ago.
Do a search.

There is no real problem (IMO) in running the SC14 backwards and just swapping the inlet and exhaust since the SC14 doesnt run twisted rotors.
That said, a possible problem might be the reversing of the side of the teeth on the gears that take the load. Kind of suck it and see.
Make sure that if you pull the SC14 apart that you mark the gears and they go back together in EXACTLY the same mesh. This is a good idea as the teeth wear in a particular pattern.

Nice
The porting is near on identical. The only difference is the output has one extra bolt in the flange. And unless you are running extreme conditions, I doubt it will blow off/warp the flange.

See picture 2, you turn it one way the air is pushed a certain direction, turn it the other way, the air goes the other way.
It is only when you get into twisted rotor, telfon tipped rotors (like the 6/71, 8/71 competition blowers) you might have problems. But I dont know enough about these to speculate
*EDIT*
Anyway, the porting on the large blowers makes it impracticle to reverse the rotation, but this is getting away from the topic.

oldcorollas:
For starters, I did do a search, and could not find my post in the results. It was only after posting this new thread, then searching through 5 pages of threads that i actually found the old thread, and then made a post in it, hence it being back on the first page.
Secondly, instead of being a dickhead to new members who dont actually know a whole heap about this stuff, you could actually help instead of posting stupid comments like this
"oldcorollas" | actually, no...
just hook it up normally, and run it backwards so it sucks air from the motor....
|
it is people like earlyrolla that actually help these forums by providing users with useful information that actually helps answer the question posed.
"oldcorollas" | swapping inlets and outlets? if they are the same in tems of porting, sure why not, give it a go and let us all know how it goes.... but why do you need us to confirm what you wan to do already? just give it a frickin go!!!! ffs...
|
Maybe people whos weekly income is larger than mine and can afford to do experiments on this sorta gear will have done them, hence why i ask. I know i dont intend to break pieces of machinery that i cant afford to break.
If you dont really know the answer to a question, as i sense you dont know the answer to this one, just let it go instead of posting useless comments and flaming other members.
