i have dismantled my 3t today but then i had a sneaking suspision that i buggered up. without thinking i pulled a piston out from the bottom of the block then it got stuck somewhere near the crank mounts then i thought to myself that i screwed up.
can anyone tell if i stuffed up and if i can squeeze the rings back in the bore
any info would be appreciated

step 1) break rings
step 2) remove piston
step 3) buy new ring set
step 4) replace all ring sets
step 5) rest happily knowing that the easiest thing to make is still and always will be; a mistake.

depends - what are the bores like - can you still see the cross hatching in them - or are they scored (up and down) by knackered original rings and/or other defects....?

then you may need to borrow a hone and hone the bores before re-assembly.

Just in mind when honing your block that you really only get three rebuilds/hones before needing to up size your pistons or resleaving your block other wise you'll have excessive blow by and might loose compression, etc.

A hone is a set of stones that are spring loaded - they are connected to a shaft, you put this in the drill and run it up and down the bores to give a cross-hatched hone marks (you will see evidence of these marks in the bores).
The purpose of honing is to bed the rings.
