someone once said " rice has nothing to do with japanese cars - just the philosiphy on how they are modified - just most SEEM to be hondas "
anything based on a econobox ( ie lancer excel miarge subaru GX impreza , festiva - mums taxi - grandmas church car ) with a milo can for an exhaust , go faster stripes - 200+kg of stereo gear and sticker crap all over it is considered rice in my book for starters ..
THEN you have your yuppie ricers who have BMW's and VW polos.. i wont go there
rice is image NOT badge -

This is always a sticking point, but i think the generally held definition of rice is: Shit car, Expensive plastic bits and pieces and other knick knacks that dont do jack all to the performance except decrease it (increasing the weight in the power/weight ratio ). Am I right?
But this definition doesnt include those ricer Rexes etc... Cant argue with a guy when his car will eat urs non stop every day =/ even if he mortgaged the family kebab trailer to afford such a car...

grinz - klet me clarify myself so not to step on too many toes
the stereos that some riceys have would SLOW it down - more than make it go faster - some of those units must weigh a tonne ..
I have a neat cd player and speakers in my car - and the likelyhood a sub will go in soon - but 14 subbies + 302 speakers - and a disco ball in the hatch compartment ?? whats the deal there. I know guys with show cars + stereo setups that are awesome - yet dont look totally silly.
when i mean stickers - i mean PLASTERED with stickers - ie the usual i have a "no fear" and ralliart sticker - although their mirage doesnt have any ralliart gear on it ( saw a datsun 180b yersterday with ralliart stickers - whats the deal there ?????)
, stickers with every brand of accessory you have on it plastered down the doors , and maybe even throw in some japanese writing on the windows just to give it IMAGE even though the car owner doesnt know japanese .. For all they know the writing might say " I blow goats , and my mum is a chicken "

Ha, there is a girl a work with a rice machine just like that.....
Its a late model lancer coupe.... not an MR mind you... the shitty model with the crappy 1.5 motor.
Has a Full Droid kit. Those bright Red plastic mudflaps (why did these catch on?) shitty exhaust that sounds like my old man after a can of beans.
is running stock wheels with hubcaps still and hasn't been lowered or anything..... Is covered in Raliart and Mitsubishi, hks etc stickers. Front Guards, Bonnet, Rear guards, Doors Windscreens the whole lot along with some stupid looking pinstriping. I know for a fact it doesn't have one peice of equipement from any of these manufacturers.
She drives this thing like she's collin Mcfriggen Crae aswell. Would have liked to have lined it up in my old ST162 Celica.... I'm not going to bother in the soarer though.
Oh and yes.... It does have snap on seat covers.

Hey, I reckon some quick cars are rice too.
For example, someone can take a 200sx, which is a performance car to begin with, and totally rice it up. Hell, there's enough of them around.
I just don't think cars that are quick should automatically not be rice.
