o2 sensor on 1jz Fri, 28 May 2004 23:10 Go to next message
Hi,
I did a search but no results.

What exactly are the effects of disconnecting the 02 sensor? Particuarly on a 1jz? It is a 4 wire one.

thanks
Chris

the only thing O2 sensors do is to adjust the mixture at light throttle... ie cruising around, which is maybe 80% of driving...

it will either allow engine to run cooler than it would (if lean) or with better economy (if rich)

and will help emissions..

ps, 4 wire just means it's heated.

why you want to disconnect it?

somebody said if you disconnect it will run richer under high load so if it is boosted up then that would be a good thing?

yeah, itll run richer everywhere but at WOT and make the people's eyes water behind you at the lights... it will do SFA to top end high boost WOT driving.

no matter what anyone says, there is no way of 'fudging' sensors with stock ecus to make them any better than the way they are tuned stock. sure you can try, but it aint going to happen
