Info on 7.5 inch LSD's

Hi All,
I wonder if someone can help with some differential information.
Am looking to fit either an LSD or Torsen type differential to a 82-85 Supra diff. It's the 7.5 inch with 4.11 gears.
Does anyone know of another Toyota, or other brand, car that has a suitable LSD diff centre that would bolt into the housing, and if so from what model.
Any help/information would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

The only (relatively) common source for second-hand 7.5" LSD's are 82-85 Supra's. I've seen them elsewhere, for example imported LiteAce 4WD's, but they're pretty rare. If you want an LSD your best bet is to buy new, which turns out to be relatively easy; late-model Hilux 4WD's have a 7.5" diff in front, so there's lots of aftermarket stuff available for them.
I got a Detroit TrueTrac helical-type LSD (aka torsen) for my 84 Supra. It's designed for the Hilux but fits in the Supra housing with no modifications, provided you use the Hilux carrier bearings. I got it from the US and it cost about $1k landed, although you could probably get it cheaper now. If you do a search you'll find some recent discussion on a group buy which you might want to get involved in... not sure if it's still going ahead though?

Bugger!
Norbie answered it before me
I too have the Detroit TrueTrac diff in my Supra
Contact 82MKII, I think he is one of the people who is organising the group buy...
Cheers.

Thanks for the swift replys.
Have had a look through old threads, as suggested by Dd Ma61, also most helpful.
Do some Hi-Lux have a front LSD? Some list indicate only the rear (8 in.) was LSD?
Will try to find an MA61 auto and source the centre from there.
As I'm not familiar with Toyota models, could someone please give a year range for the GA61 Celica, as it's centre, and maybe even the gears would also be suitable.

The list above is obviously from the US, so not terribly useful. MkI Supra's are very rare here and only a small fraction of them came with F series LSD's anyway. Also the 2WD Hilux/"Truck" comes with a G series diff in this part of the world. For some reason the US versions got the smaller F diff.
I haven't come across any 4WD Hilux's with a factory-fitted front LSD, but that's not to say they don't exist.
The GA61 Celica XX is the JDM version of our MA61 Supra, so the year range is 82-85. I thought they came with a T series (6.7") diff though?

Also to mention that I belive the Celica XX came with no wheel flares like the Supra.

That group buy has come and been! fortunately, 82MKII has one left over from the group buy (it was cheaper to buy ten than it was nine), so contact him regarding it's purchase quickly?!

Only some of them did. I think it's probably only the 1GEU versions that had the T series.

That's probably 'cos he didn't get the usual smart-ass "Search" answers.
Although one thing in his favour was that the question was typed with full english words, punctuation, a serious question was asked, no CAPS LOCK, and it made sense.
Welcome Robert !!!

Thanks. Only extending the same courtesy in return for the helpful and valuable information members have given.
It seems that "forum etiquette" is already at a good standard here.
Having looked through other parts of the forum, it is obvious there is a wealth of knowledge and information available.
Will call back from time to time, more Toyota parts left to sort out on the project.
Robert
