7MGTE tuned!!!

I have just come back from getting my car drive tuned (I will be getting it dynoed once everything is finished) I can only run 12psi using the stock injectors 440cc, fuel pump and regulator. I had it up to 14psi but the A/F mixture leaned off so I had to back off. So ill be running a staged injector to fix this. Just thought i'd let you guys know that.

No idea what it'll make it felt really good tho on 12psi. Im thinking about leaving the fuel pump and regulator for now so I can see what they can handle. Im planning to get a 550cc or 660cc injector to use as my staged injector which will be spraying on the inlet side of the Throttle body, this will also cool the intake temps a little too. Just a quick plug for George May Racing at Kunda Park top bloke!

Allan the rings seem to be good no problem so far, any idea what sort of problems they were having with the total seal rings?

Okay, so you buy a motor well-known for reliability problems, then do something dodgy like this. Dodgy dodgy dodgy. I know lots of people do it, but that doesn't make it a cromulent idea.
The 7M is destined to retain the bad name it has received over the years - and half the time it is through no fault of it's own!

Precisely, I wouldn't even put them in Allan's motor! (hey you never did reply to my light hearted PM about your tractor motor?)
A mate had a 7M built and had nothing but problems.

I ignore Pm's for that reason 7m-brisbane
celicaboy modify your fuel pressure reg and crank a few more PSI of fuel pressure into it, will help get more fuel in and give a better spray pattern, avoid secondary injectors at all costs!

up to what boost level can the 7M 440cc injectors handle ?
I ran the 440cc 2JZ injectors in my 1JZ at 17psi and they still didnt max out... I did have a GTR fuel pump though.
What is it that is causing you to lean out, the fuel pressure, the fuel pump, or the injectors ?

The standard fuel pressure regulator is good to allow enough fuel to the rail to support the motor making 250rwkw and more (we'll soon find it's limits)!
The standard 440cc injectors are really 486cc (as i had mine flow tested). This should be sufficent to run 1 bar boost safely. If you want to do that safely i suggest to fit a Lexus V8 AFM (please refer to Reg Reimmer Lexus AFM upgrade on the net).
Hey 7M-Bris, hows it going, it's me Frank from SA. Anyhow, as much as he hates these motor (i do understand his fustration with these motors as i have experience too), these motors are very good as long as they are respected, no dodgy ideas.

easy if it dies the original injectors supply just enough fuel to burn a nice hole in each of your 6 pistons
go for water injection with that 7th injector but have the air temp sensor after it so the ecu can tune to a point for its effect

what colour is your Supra?
I live in Kuluin and have been going to Rotormax which is right next door to George's. George is a good fella, helped me quite a few times with my 1jz Corona.
One day when my car is fixed I might be able to come for a drive with you

Allan, Melting the pistons is that a good or a bad thing? 2J time Is that the only downside? Im willing to take that chance. Bacically the only reason im doing the staged injector is that its alot cheaper then buying 6 new injectors and also I dont have to retune the whole fuel map again.
Chris Davey, My supra's black. I was up at George May Racing last Saturday (May 29th). Yeah would love to go for a cruise up Brisbane way.

Never heard of a injector stop working but I suppose there could be a 1st. I thought about the distribution of fuel to all cylinders but George said I shouldn't have a problem with that so??? Im still considering 6x 550cc injectors just weighing up things.
Also my clutch can not handle anymore punishment 3 gear 6500rpm 13 pound boost is that tyre smoke I wish, the only smoke coming from my car was from the clutch

you get a bit ambitious with that 7th injector and you will surely find how bad your distribution is.
Couldn't you import some 660s, 720s or something from the u.s. ? Prices have fallen drstically over last 3 years.
7m is a good motor - seem like 3tc bottom end internals with a 4ag like head, not a bad thing.

quest, seems yor over in america any chance you can get me prices of 550cc and 660cc injectors? Im starting to pull towards 6 new injectors + upping the fuel pressure.
Are the Lexus 550cc injectors a easy swap? do they use the same plugs etc?

The injectors are an easy swap apparently, and it is the Lexus AFM that you need to support it. I have one if you wish (Lexus AFM that is - I'm going in a slightly different direction), PM me if you are interested.

celicaboy,
any and everything u need to know about the 7 can be found on
http://www.supraforums.com/
as well as a whole lot of other supra sites. Mk3 owners are not "rich guys" so they can find deals.
Since you have a Wolf? I'd think 660 or 720s would do, so you won't need to upgrade again, depending on your final goal. Used 550s and kicked up fuel pressure should take you ~550hp. I would think 440s will cover your ct26 hybrid but, with an upgrade fuel pump and regulator.
try
HorsePowerFreaks.Com
summitracing.com
http://www.fuelinjectorclinic.com/product_cart.htm #ACURA%20-%20TOYOTA%20-%20MITSUBISHI
I've seen some msd 50 lb go for $45usd. Sometimes 660, 720 and 830cc are all priced the same, ~$65 to 80 usd ea. Dunno if that price works for you.
Total seal rings are like centerforce dual friction clutches - love it or hate it
u have a nice setup going
