Automatic O/D Button on Hydraulically Controlled auto

Does anybody know if in a hydraulically controlled auto (A240L) if the OD button circuit is incorporated with an engine temp sensor...i.e. stopping trans shifting to 4th when car is cold even with OD on. I know this is the case on the electronically controlled g/boxes. Its in a 91 4AFE corolla. The car's reading cold on night highway driving (guessing thermostat) and wouldn't go into o/d. Turning button on and off did the trick but was wondering if the gauge reading full C was the cause of it
I had a look at a wiring diagram and it suggests so...is this temp sensor/switch seperate to the 1.sender sensor
and 2. sensor for thermo fan?

Yep your right about the temp switch, at least thats how I interpret my wiring diagram. Having said that I couldn't get it to work and its now at rocco's...

Hmmm, my mechanic replaced my 3spd auto over a year ago, with what he said was another 3spd.. However, i can clearly hear 3 changes... with the last one dropping the revs down some... there are some plugs on the auto that goto nowhere...
The car usually slips into this 4th gear just after 60kms... when cold this can cause the motor to *kick* at me
Is there any way I can tell if this is a 3spd or the 4spd trans? What type of plug does the 4spd have? How can I hook it up so the car won't drop into 4th when cold or when i don't want it?
