KE70 original tyre size and wheel offset

Does anyone know the original tyre size and wheel offset of a Ke70?
I have 165/75-13 on it and they are a 13x4.5 rim on the tyre placard it stats ZR78S13 but I don't know what tyre size this means, I have done a search and didn't come up with anything, I also have the Gregory's manual but it's not in there either.
What offset would I have to get for 15" rims? I was thinking about +25.
Thanks in advance.

the offset depend son the rim width, as you are trying to get a certain 'backspace'
how much space you need depends on what tyre you run, and what size rim, since the sidewall will be the widest part.
on my KE15, i have 13x6" rim with +15 offset (90mm backspace), 186/60/13 hankook tyres, and i have about 5-8mm tyre to strut clerance.
your best bet... seriously... is to choose the tyre you want to run. if you know you want 15's, (and as it's a KE70, about 185/195 width), adn choose the profile to be the righ rolling diameter. get one of those tyres or find someone with one, get it mounted in any rim of the same width you want to run (6 or 6.5") and then physically put it on the car.
measure the backspace of the rim, and then measure the tyre to strut clearance... if you have 15mm gap between tyre and strut, you could reduce that to 10mm, and so add +5mm to offset for the rims...
it's hard to say exactly what rim to get without trying..
if you are buying a package from a tyre shop, see if they can lend you a mounted tyre on a known rim, and go from there.. bets way is to physically check..
hope this helps..

Thanks for that oldcorolla, I had a think of the people I now and no body I now has 15" 4 stud rims I live in V8 country Central Qld..........
The tyre choice I was after and that would keep the same rolling stock is 195/50-15, so at 100kmh I would be running at 99.7kmh, the rim at the least would have to be 15x6 to run a 195 on but I would prefer 15x6.5 rim, I was thinking around +10mm offset, but I could be wrong.
Maybe it would be easier to see what offset other KE70 owners would be running on standard strut/suspension setups. Anyone ???

standard size for ke30 (which is where this speedo gear comes from) is 165R13, or 165/82/13 in modern speak
sizes that will work and keep speedo accurate on ke30/55/70 are:
165/80/13
185/70/13
185/60/14
195/50/15
use whatever offset fits but keeps your wheels inside the guard. for 15" wheels, you'll need something with 110mm backspacing or less (r31 turbine wheels are 120mm, they hit the strut)
there is a tire calculator spreadsheet on my garage page

Thank's Super Jamie, so it looks like a bit of trial and error for me then.

i'm sure one of the guys on rollaclub.com would be more than happy to measure the backspacing of a standard wheel for you, they're all ke70 nuts over there give it a go

Your original tyres are a '78' series, that is the part in the 'ZR78S13'. So its either that or 80 series which is little diffent in size.
If you can wait a day I will find out the overall diameter of the original tyre and suggest some sizes in 15 inch rubber that will get you back close to the orig. diameter and therefore not effect your speedo or gearing.

Well I figured the 165/75-13 would be right and from what I have found 195/50/15 would be pretty spot on it's just a matter of finding the right offset.
Thank's guys:)

Your original 165R13 tyre has a diameter of 594mm so a 195/55R15 is closer at 595mm. A 195/50R15 comes in at 577mm.
Another 15 to consider is a 215/50 at 597mm. These are approximate but will mean minimum errors at the speedo and providing that tyres are made in these sizes and can be bought.
Cheers,
Mitch.

Well I went by this site http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html
it gives you the speed at 100kmh and sizes and a 165/75-13 and a 195/50-16 are preety spot on.

The offset, I can certainly tell u, is +25. I drove my KE70 to the largest wheels n tire shop, and told the mech I wanted new wheels for my car.
He said, "oh that? We don't have +25 offset rims here." (okay largest shop, but not necessarily the best stocked)
Anyway, I got a set of +5 offset 14" from another shop.
Hope this helps.

I use 5x120 Falcon rims (easy to get!) on my KE70, 15x7 with (I think!) zero offset. With a 195/50 15 tyre, everyting fits just nicely - but this of course requires changing hubs etc. to get everything to fit!
