has anybody rebuilt a 1jz?

hello all,
if worst comes to worst I may have a big problem and require a rebuild. I did a search and all I got was the 1.5jz stuff. I am not really interested in doing that as 1. 2jz blocks aren't very easy to come by and 2. they are not very cheap.
If it is a problem in the bottome end, do you think it would be better to buy new bits and rebuild it or buy second hand motor and put the 2 together to make 1 good motor, or just drop in another motor.
My motor is pretty stock except some things have been changed like no PS and the alternator has been relocated and no clutch fan.
If it is not the bottom end problem then it is most likely a head problem in which case, I would probably just get the head done and new bits put in.
what do you think?

haven't done the leak down test yet as I need a compressor. If it is the head then I will get it ported and new bits and if it is the block then I am seriously contemplating turning the car into a drag car as that is all it is good for anyhow. These damn street legal rules are just a hinderance However, if that was the case it would be a very long upgrade path as I am on a tight budget. hmmm?
I shouldn't have got those twin pipes and boost controller

oh yeah, don't think it is the big end as it was screaching like hell and then stopped all of a sudden. Checked the oil and there are no bits of bearings in there. Thinking maybe bent rod or dead valve spring. Will find out soon I guess.

OK so can I assume that nobody has ever rebuilt a 1jz-gte? I know these engines are supposed to be pretty strong but some people have had to have broken some?
Mine has a problem and I am only making about 330ish HP?

I've been following these engines for some 6 years and owned 3 in the last 4 years and I've only heard of 1 single 1JZ being rebuilt in WA and fitted in VIC and the details were very sketchy.
The main reason is cost - a good bare 1JZ engine can be had for under $800 - a full rebuild gasket kit on it's own is over $500 without any parts, machining or labour - the maths dictate it's easier/cheaper to replace the engine than rebuild it ; at least until demand exceeds supply...

hmm, well if that is the case then I may end up going the 1.5JZ route after all. I knew that not many people would have blown the internals but I thought that somebody may have wanted to get a "freshly" rebuilt engine rather than chancing another import engine. That was my line of thinking anyway

No, I can confirm that the JT Racing 1j has never been opened.
I can also confirm it has more HP than anyone has a right to...
it is making in excess of 500rwhp@25 psi.
Jamie is about to start a rebuild though, the usual gear, but mechanical fuel pumps, twin gt40's, 1800cc injectors and Alcohol fuel.
I dare you to doubt him, hehe

I am rebuilding a 2JZGE. Longer forged rods, higher compression forged pistons, balanced, ported head, big cams, shim under bucket conversion, blah, blah, blah....But you know, it's NA and that's what you have to do to get power.
But your cheapest bet is to just buy a bare engine sans turbos and swap everything over. You should be able to find one for less than $1000.

is this the r33 gts-t ?
900rwhp from a stock internals rb25 ? you gotta be kidding !
FWIW - the JT ute has dyno charts for 460rwhp @ 19psi and optimax. Now been road tuned at 25 psi ( no traction on dyno).

On www.supraforums.com.au it said that supra made 780rwhp? I thought it was 880 actually. Anyway, we know it is a lot
