FOR SALE - 5spd 1987 ST162 GTS Coupe PROJECT CAR w/ALLTRAC kit
ATTENION TO ALL: THIS VEHICLE WILL ONLY BE SOLD WHOLE AND NOT PARTED OUT, NO EXCEPTIONS.
Thanks for understanding.
Note to Moderator: I was unable to locate the Non turbo classifieds. Please direct this ad accordingly.
Price: $1300 obo
Location: San Diego California
Mileage: TBD, chassis has over 150,000...car is in San Diego at parents house, I'm in Long Beach. I'll update when back in S.D. this weekend.
Condition: PROJECT
BODY - Original Red paint is faded but has no body rust, except for a few centimeters of rust on the actual sunroof near the weather seal. There are a couple of very minor door dings that are easily repairable (pics soon to come). Otherwise the body is straight with no apparent signs of accident damage.
The trunk lid has a slight bend (typical) where the "shock" mounts onto the trunk. The kit is black and includes everything minus some clips to mount the side skirts to the bottom of the body and a couple of the door trim peices (the 2" door gaurd strips). Unfortunately the rear bumper and rear valances will not work on the coupe. The rear-end of the coupe, from the mud guard to the beginning of the rear bumper, is almost 2"-3" longer than the hatch version.
Currently, the ALLTRAC drivers side door, 88' ALLTRAC corner lights, front bumber and fenders w/skirt-lip are mounted onto the car. As of now the Celica resembles a checker board since the ALLTRAC kit is black and the body is red. As far as the condition of the bumpers go, ALLTRAC owners would probably want to buy the front and rear from this Celica since the form of these bumpers are close to new without any cracks or deformation... I can't say the same for the paint finish though.
ATTENTION ALLTRAC OWNERS AND ALLTRAC KIT SEEKERS: I WILL NOT SELL THE BUMPERS OR THE KIT IN SEPERATE PIECES. THE KIT WILL ONLY BE SOLD WITH THE VEHICLE.
So sorry to those who are looking for the kit itself. If I had space to park and store my Celica for free I'd never sell it. I may be making one of the biggest mistakes in my life by letting go of these precious items but I'm giving an ST162 enthusiast the opportunity to own a FF ALLTRAC coupe project car. The only other ingredient missing is the 3SGTE. The ultimate sleeper. Now imagine three car lengths and pulling, through the corners of Banner grade or Highland (with some mods of course), in front of the R32 and R33's that have been sited around San Diego and the owners pulling up as they roll down their window after the run to ask if your an ALLTRAC and telling them "nope, I wish... it's only front drive". Then speeding off as you slide sideways into the upcoming corner making him/her wonder if a FF can do all that. Anyways...back to business.
Every piece that comes standard with the US ALLTRAC kit (aside from the previously stated door guard strips) is included and in super condition. A few bolts and mounting clips may be needed but can be easily attained from the dealer or the junkyard.
Engine - JDM 1st gen 3SGE from Watanabe. Mileage 3X,XXX
Bearings - The car sounds and feels fairly smooth with no immediate signs of worn bearings.
Brakes - New Raybestos and unwarpped rotors from previous owner. I suggest throwing in a set of Carbonmet pads.
Wheels - Three 16"x 7" sliver TSW Hockenheim Rs with 215/40/16 on two of the wheels and 205/40/16 on the other. The fourth wheel was stolen so the spare takes its place. The tires are about 3-5mm from the wear indicator.
Halfshafts - No audible clicking of bad CV joints and boots appear OK w/no cracking or splitting.
Interior - Very Good for a 17 year-old, almost excellent except for the ugly purplish, bubbling, cracking tint and typical "dash bulge". OEM double-din radio with old school CD changer, (damaged remote) from previous owner.
Picture: PENDING
Mods:
- 2 1/4" shop bent aluminized piping from cat down to single-in/out Magnaflow 4" grapefruit shooter w/2 1/4" inner diameter.
- Coilover sleeve/spring coversion unwelded to the front strut anchored by set screws. Rear coilovers have not yet been installed.
- Spring rates: Unknown
- Brand: VAOS - http://www.vaos.homestead.com/COILOVERS.html
Problems or needs:
- Smog - this vehicle is registered but I haven't received the current sticker since it failed smog due to the exhaust manifold.
- Typical crack in OEM iron exhaust manifold resulting in a horribly sounding exhaust leak...but I have a JDM 4-2-1 3SGE header that will be included.
- Fluid leaks: Power Steering pump has bad seals or the pressure/return hoses need to be replaced.
- Steering Rack, U-joint, ball-joint/tie rod - One of the three is making the clunking noise when the wheel is jerked from left-to-right.
- Transmission: Sycnros for 2-3 shift are bad and the "scratch" is heard and felt. If doing a 3SGTE swap you'll have to scrap this tranny anyways.
- Trunk shocks are blown.
- A/C relay is missing.
- A fresh set of Koni or KYB AGXs would make this ST162 handle like a champ. Since my other ST162 was semi-firm with the KYB GR2s I can only imagine what a better shock setup would feel like.
Included Extras:
- OEM 88' ALLTRAC front grill
- 1st gen 3SGE cylinder head with lifters...perfect for a "head job".
- OEM exhaust manifold - no time to install. It may be JDM which has no EGR return plumbing but don't remember.
- JDM intake manifold w/EGR blocking plate.
- JDM 3SGE header - the header does not include the mid/flex pipe (from header to cat) so this stretch of piping will have to be custom fabricated.
- Short Shifter - from AE92 and already installed. This is not a "cut" shifter...it actually retains stock height and OEM shift knub.
- ALLTRAC passenger side door - for a precision fit use this door since the holes are pre-drilled for the kit or use to create a template.
- Misc. - screws, bolts, water outlets, sensors, two OEM GTS wheels (need tires), OEM mud guards, brackets, 3SGE ECU (from 88 I believe), stock shifter, cut JDM engine harness (some connectors still good), 3SGE rusted flywheel, TVIS plate w/vacuum diaphragm, U.S. 3SGE intake manifold, 3SGE throttle body, 3SGE cams/sprockets, OEM suspension springs, etc.
I'm sure there is something I forgot to include in the descriptions so feel free to ask any questions.
