I own a 95 model V6 Camry (some of you are probably) curled up with laughter by now. I would like to install a small NOS system by installing an extra injector and NOS nozzle in the inlet manifold. I would only be aiming for a 40-70hp increase, so that hopefully minimal modifications can be made without changing existing components.

The current injectors flow 200cc at 270KPA which should be good for around 240 HP
The car is a manual(will have to find a stronger clutch if possible)

regards
tony

stro ger clutch for sure
stronger
diff
gearbox
crank
conrods
valves

where do u want to start

not worth the money

the problem with nos is not how much hp
but the harshness it delviers that extra hp

another thing i find and most top engine biulders would agree to this

people who only want a very light increase in hp with nos
say 50 hp dont really know the good and bad htings with nos

most people who know a shitload bout nos usually run over 100 to 150 hp worth of nos

in other words
they build the engine to suit nos and know the pros and cons

i garantee most young guys who want only a small shot of it have probably never read a book on nos

im not sayin thats u but just from what u hear

Tony,

My very strong advice is to NOT do this modification. I'm not dissing you for having a V6 Camry... I used to own a 1996 model myself. The engines are probably the worst things that Toyota has made. They would have been stronger if made out of cardboard.

I had 65,000km on mine (bought it new). One day I was dropping a friend off at a party, doing about 70km/h in 2nd (4500rpm) hardly stressing the engine. All of a sudden, the engine decided it didn't want to live anymore... a pair of sheared conrods, 12 holes in the block & sump, and managed to crack the block into 3 separate pieces. Lucky for Toyota, the car was 3 months out of warranty, and pleasantly turned their noses up at me, when clearly there had to have been something defective with the engine. I don't know of any car, babied for 65,000km could die in such a catastrophic way.

After finding this out, I found out that mine was not the only case of it happening. It apparently used to happen to the old 4Runner which shared the same engine.

In short, the 3VZ-FE is not an engine suitable to any forced induction or nitrous add-ons. Sorry to dampen your spirits, but I'm saving you a potential $7,000 engine rebuild.

If you wanted to squeeze some more power out of the car, you could try to source a 1MZ-FE (the newer 3.0L V6) out of a later model Camry, but it would probably cost a fair bit. These engines are much stronger, and will hold up to forced induction or nitrous. There are pics on the forums of one with a T66 turbo install Smile
