Having driven both types, I'd have to say the locked diff is better. They naturally like to sit with the tail out, and need to have power on to be stable.

Yeah, thats the way I see it.

Locker = 100% lock
LSD = 90% or so?

If this car is going to be driven on the street, I'd say definitely get an LSD. A locker is great about 1% of the time, but 99% of the time it will shit you to tears.

yeah, she wont be too good on the street with a lcoker, and can get dangerous. But lockers are pretty cheap, and you gotta learn sometime.

lockers are fine..... just gota be careful about corner entry understeer.
The trick for this is apparently dab the brakes a bit, turn hard, then give it heaps of gas.... I will try this at next track day.

I am fitting AE86 LSD and disc brakes into my KE35, replacing std locker..... so I will soon know the difference. I suspect that the LSD won't sit as sideways for as long due to being not as "tight".... time will tell.

John, just get a LSD head for your 7.5" diff. I'm sure you don't want the tyre wear or strange looks.

Tire wear is a huge problem with a locker on the street.

lockers are great for drifting, but annoying for anything else.
Drove a locked 180sx the other day... even giving it slight power out of a corner, the back wagged a little. Any more power, and it slid into a full drift...
Not my style, but each to their own.
