Sounds like a vacuum leak, as you said. Just go over your manifold and plenum and check that all lines and nipples are connected or blocked...... Just a guess - it could very well be something else.

its fuckin weird,
the egr vacuum modulator is missing, it seems to have two charcol canisters, and there is a vacuum feed for the dizzy, oxy sensor is not hooked up.
all toyota diagrams and haynes manual diagrams show different to this.
i dont understand it, it ran before the engine was removed from the other car...

yep, but its weird because its omitted from the diagrams in the toyota & haynes manual, only 5ME diagrams show it

played with the vacuum hoses for ages,
say that the vacuum hoses are not the case,
what else could it be...
Fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel lines, spark plugs, ignition system, TPS, or the microtech wiring
the car ran fine about 2 months ago, why would the fuel pump cark it now? because its been sitting for so long?

i was just thinking about that..
mayb its too small or something?
it was from a starter motor circuit i had...but wouldnt a starter need more current than a fuel pump

How are you driving the circuit opening (fuel pump) relay?
Stock 5MGE has a microswitch in the airflow meter that controls the circuit opening relay & hance fuel pump.
Are you still using the AFM, or is the microtech using MAP?
Maybe your circuit opening relay (& hence fuel pump) is only running when you crank the car and then drops out once you go back to normal ignition position?
Regards
Peter
PS - my 5MGE dizzy has vacum advance.

i dont really know about the wiring side of things, it was already done so we just took the loom and stuck it in my car.
glen:
here's a twist, i took out the unknown relay and it had absolutely no affect on the starting and running of the car, it still starts easily then soon dies.
i think this may be a job for mr. auto electrician

yeh dude, thatd be sweet thanks!
im really at a loss with the vacuum lines, so i have plugged most of them.
the egr and evap systems are shot anyway, they were never working, so they are cool, but there are more vacuum holes to be fixed...
