The trumpets are there to maintain a tuned inlet length, ditching them and going for something shorter like this:

Can help, but, only if you get suitible cams/management to go with them.

I'd suggest leaving them as they are to start with.

Hey Trevor,

I was speaking to a person the other day about this, and he has done dyno runs with both the standard trumpets and then with ones like mine (on the engine in my avatar). He said there was a noticable gain in torque when using the standard ones most likely due to extra length. The spun ones are better for top end power.

Well, I'm taking a guess here, but as you would be reducing the intake runner length even more, this would result in even less torque.

Oh, by the way, I'll be checking that belt out and let you know on Sunday by the latest. Sorry man, just super busy!

Cheers,

Jeremy.

also no bellmouth will create more turbulence in the air entering the ports.

exactly.. the whole point of a bellmouth is because most air gets pulled in from the sides of the runner opening.. by havign a trumpet, you increase the diameter of the opening, so you effectively have more area for the air to enter the runner. in fact a lot of air actually gets pulled in from "behind" the trumpet, so it's important to have the curve continuing over and folding back around to the trumpet again...

not having trumpets means you just have a hole.. and that is not very good as far as air entering the runners goes.. you will lose both velocity and resonance tuning, which is what makes the 20V good in the first place..

i think Bens trumpets look the goods
