Tacho for a 7MGTE Fri, 04 June 2004 10:16 Go to next message
Hello everyone.

Excuse my hogging up a spot on the site, but how hard is it to wire up a tacho for a 7MGTE?

OK, I own a toyota Crown Wagon, which is stock looking almost all round, with a 7MGTE under the bonnet. It is backed up with a 3 speed auto? i think. I dont want a monster tacho, because i want to be unassuming in my wagon, so i want to look for a small after market tacho for the 6.

Any suggestions on what sort, and how difficult it would be to wire it up?

Any comments would be appreciated, and YES, i have a sense of humour, so if ya wanna have a go at me for owning a "grandpa" car, go for it.

Thanks in advance

Andrij

its quite easy
3 or 4 wires i think
signal wire attaches to your coil
then there is the positive, neutral\earth, and finally a wire for your light

they usually come with instructions that even i could follow Razz

i'm not sure if this has been covered before, but i'd say it has
try using the search function first, or google it
those options fail, then create a thread....not trying to sound grouchy, but it would probalby save you having to wait for a reply

btw
a frioend of mine wanted a small tacho for his mini, instead of a monster tacho he got a 2 and a quarter inch one from autobarn i think, did the trick

Thanks for the brisk reply, Cyber-punk, but i did do a search on the forum before i started typing.

I try not to waste other people's time, just thought that someone in the know would be able to tell me more .
Always willing to learn.

By the way, thanks for the tip about your mate and his mini.
I will head out tomorrow to see what there is, in liddle tacho's.
I know size dont matter in that regard. Very Happy

Cheers

another thing about the search function, i'd say people would be less bitchy(not that iwas trying to be bitchy) if instead of new threads being created, old ones were added too...if you get my dorifto

good luck with your tacho hunt
