Help on Corolla model?

Hi All,
Just wondering of anyone could tell me what model of Corolla has the big lettering along the side of the car "TWIN CAM". It may also have "16V" written as well. If possible, does anyone know the rough price i should be paying for a good one of these?
Thanks heaps,
DigitalPho3nix.

You are no doubt thinking of the AE82 (mid-late 80's) Corolla Twin Cam. These have the 4AGE, disc brakes, and a few other little bits and pieces.
You will be lucky to find one of these in good condition, as most of them have probably been owned by some merciless kid off these forums - and as such would had the ring flogged out of them and minimal money spent on servicing.

Cheers 7M. What are the '91 Corolla GTi's like? They are AE93 i think. FWD/RWD? What sort of engine do they have?

All Corollas from the mid 80's onwards are FWD.
The Corolla GTI also has essentially the same engine, although if I remember this is the 100kw version. It's effectively one of the top-of-the-line models (alongside the SX, which also has the 100kw motor).
They are a good little car, but again finding a good one will be hard.

The SX was the top model of the AE92/AE93 range...
The GTi Hatch was a lower class model due to the CSi grade interior, manual adjustment mirrors and CSi grade front end... Basically, the GTi Hatch was a CSi corolla, with a 100kW 4age, bigger front brakes, SX Style Instrument Cluster and a spoiler... The rest of the car was exactly the same as the CSi...

Yeah but gti's are quicker
They're awesome cars. I've owned three of them and it's not impossible to find a clean one. In fact, I bought my current GTi from a 40yo doctor with only 87000kms on it a few months back and it is immaculate barring a few minor stone chips.

The gti feels quicker than my previous sx which had intake/exhaust mods. Maybe losing out on the interior, power mirrors, central locking, etc made it lighter, who knows.

the ae95 did not come out with a 4age, but you can put one in. There's even one with turbo gze conversion running around.

Well there is already a camera there but on Tafe's budget, it takes a picture of the whole street, no dates or times and can't zoom to regos...
But, they are getting a $10,000 camera that will be focusing on number plates... They day that I heard that is the day that I called it quits...
So if you decide to burn rubber, have a car up your ass the whole way out and up the hill so they can't see it... I mean, you'll also have to be careful of cops aswell...
