1JZ - anyone actually done this? Sun, 06 June 2004 05:42 Go to next message
Hi guys

Putting a 1JZ in my car, and have just had a bit of good news that means I *should* be able to fit the factory twin turbo setup.

The engine I have fitted doesn't actually have anything on the exhaust side. I was going to run a custom manifold and CT26, but now am making some changes which should give room to run the TT setup. Through a friend I have access to a setup with one blown turbo, and was thinking that this might be an ideal opportunity to hiflow the turbos for a bit more power (obviously steel wheels for reliability).

After a bit of a search, no real results can be found. It gets mentioned a lot, but most people are just throwing the idea around rather than commenting on the results.

Has anyone actually done this, or know anyone who has, and do you have any info regarding the results of the upgrade? Don't really want to do it unless it's worthwhile... and please don't suggest a big single as I've decided against this idea due to cost.

Speak to Brett at GCG in Sydney or Max at ATS in Melbourne - both hiflow the stock CT12A from bigger compressor/exhaust wheels to hybrid ported housings and replacement Garrett GT28 BB cores ; to what extent you go is up to you and your pocket.

There is also a new alternative just on the market - some brand new bolt on replacements for the CT12As with steel wheels and more boost capability.
I understand they are reasonably priced as well, however it's very early days as the first set was only recently fitted.
Have a word to Neil Griffiths from Rush Imports and keep an eye on the ALSC for more details as they are available.
