3SGTE pistons / 3SGE

Thanks to those that have helped me thus far with my research.
I am looking for some strong pistons for my 3SGE rebuild and was wondering if 3SGTE pistons would fit in my engine and would they assist in lowering the CR?
i have a Gen1 3sge.
Cheers

A set of Genuine ST 205 pistons from Toyota will cost you about $400 and give a CR of about 8.5 : 1 .

sorry to hijack here but if I was rebuilding my 3s to take higher hp (not insane power, but a definate increase), would 205 pistons be up to the task or would I be better off investing in a set of forged items.

referring to the 4A-GZE factory forged piston argument, would it also not be fair assume that the 3S-GTE pistons are also factory forged?
Anyone know for sure?

I believe that Trevor is using factory forged Gen3 pistons in his engine that has produced 274kw at the wheels.

Thats right, the 205 pistons are the only forged ones.

I have a 205 turbo engine in bits and they are definitely not forged. they are cast with steel side straps in them. The turbo pistons are probably too low in compression for a GE . I have new GE pistons in stock but these are designed for stock or near stock engines only. We have used weisco, cosworth and arias ones in hot GE engies. they are all much the same (expensive but good). these special pistons are not designed for everyday road use as they have thin rings that dont last under everyday conditions. there are very few compromises in this game.

terry would be right in saying none are forged, and none are stronger then the other, in the gte dept. the 205 and 185 are almost the same, its just the 205s are compressed to 8.0:1 and the 185 8.5:1. in all honsety if ur going to build a motor buy new aftermarket pistions, im using weisco in mine, great pistons. Also if your worried about the price tag look on ebay, cheap and easy.
just my 2c

Thanks all who replied, very helpful.
With the rebuild, i am looking to add forced induction so a lower compression ratio is the go. for my purposes i believe that the ST205 pistons ought to do the job providing that they will be COMPATIBLE with a GEN 1 3SGE.
Would like to know for sure before i get hold of a set.
will also look out for some aftermarket ones on ebay.
Cheers

I am using 205 pistons in my gen1 3SGTE Paid $182 for the set from Toyota ( Trade Price ) I am also using a 205 metal head gasket from Toyota $98 Trade , Running 26 psi boost and making 272RWKW and have also run up to 35 psi on these pistons , I have run 40psi but the head lifts at that boost and pushes a bit of water out .
