Starter motors in Sydney Mon, 02 September 2002 10:46 Go to next message
Does anyone know a good place for reco starter motors around Sydney? It's time for me to change the starter in my Corolla (AE92 GTi) and I've so far been quoted $285 exchange (no labour) for a reco'd one from a local auto electrician!! I can get a brand new one from Toyota for cheaper than that! Rolling Eyes

Anyone know if the 100kw 4AGE uses the same starter motor as the other motors from this era? (eg. 7AFE, 4AFC, AE82 4AGE etc..?)

try grahams wreckers at smithfield you could probably pick one up for cheap.

im running a 4AC starter motor on mine.. the 4AGE just crapped itself when we were completing the conversion.. we led to belive it was the wiring system/efi.. but it was just the starer motor

go out to pick and payless and get yourself one, might only last a few months or could last for years and it would be cheap.

Problem is, I hate it when I have to pull my car apart to fix something, and I hate it even more when the car can't be relied on to start 100% of the time.

I've taken risks with 2nd hand alternators etc in my old car and found it to be an absolute nightmare when they crapped themselves a couple of weeks later and i had to replace them again.

So really, my options are to try and find a second hand one out of a low kms car, or pay $$$ for a brand new/reco'd one (whichever is cheaper).
