wolf 3d iginition pulse problems

Running a wolf, connected to an electronic dizzy used as a 'cam angle sensor'. Sometimes i get the black square next to RPM, saying signal fault. I have made all the wires as short as possible, routed them away from potential interferance like spark leads, power cables etc. Does anyone else have this problem? Also sometimes advance is no consistent when measured with a timing light, even though i've tried reversing the polarity of the reluctor pikup.?!?!
Also, does anyone have/or know where i could get a copy of the wolf PC program? I bought the unit off a friend, who lost the software somehow.. And using the hand contoller alone is proving to be a bitch.
Thanks.

its a common problem or misconception that its faulty.. make sure your battery is FULLY charged many engines will give an erratic signal until they fire up.
I had a similar issue with spark.. check that you coils arent faulty as thats what my problem turned out to be.
I have almost all the wolf manuals.. what version are you running?

The only time that I hae had signal count errors with the Wolf is when the gap between thetrigger and the pick-up is a little too big. Set it to run close as you dare (of course without touching).

Jason on the V4 when cranking it pretty much always looks like theres an error till it fires... just one of those things.. as soon as the engine kicks the error pulse goes away, wolf tells me this is normal operation, there is a fine tunning in the software to reduce the intererance and if you havent got this set right it can cause problems .. on the V3.1 it diddnt have the option to tune it out though.

thanks for the info guys, it's a V4.
This signal error continues after the engine is on.
sometimes i also get a problem with it not firing until i let go of the starter, and if i'm lucky there's enought momentum in the engine to let it start.. But since a new battery it has been better. (similar to when your starter and igniton are not on the same circuit) - -but they are.. pretty sure thats a voltage prob.
All earths and positives are straigh to the battery with good volatage. The only thing i can think of is that i use blade terminals to connect the signal wires from the dizzy to have the flexability of removing the dizzy w/o chopping wires.. Is this
sufficent to cause interferance as these clips are not shielded?
When it does do it's weird thing, the RPM displayed is at least double that of what it sounds the motor is at, thus the wolf is recieving double input pulses, and sending double sparks, makeing the motor sound weird. If a rev the motor up a bit, and
get past the 'wall' it goes away... weird..
I'll keep tinkering, ill try chaning pickup gap, and play with the signal strenth pickup.
Thanks for your help guys.

Whats your trigger voltage set at? With my Wolf 3D Ver4 I get errors while cranking but when its started it runs fine. I have the Auto Trigger Level set to ON and the trigger levels set below
Very Low to Low: 500rpm
Low to Medium: 700rpm
Medium to High: 1500rpm
PS. You can download the PC software from wolfs website, Ring up and talk to Steve at AEM coz i'd say by the sound of it you might not have all the configurations set. The PC software can access more settings that the hand controller cannot access.
What motor is this on?
