you mean the vvti version I assume, as opposed to a normal qjz with a single turbo conversion?
this has been covered *lots*. are you looking for a drive in-drive out price tag, or do you plan to do some of the work yourself?
drive in drive out, I wouldn't put money on you getting change for $12k, and that would be doing it on the cheap (and that's me assuming the twin turbo version - I have no idea on prices of vvti half cuts). Have a chat to Jag7799, he's just done the same conversion into a mx73 (which is a very similar car).

talk to norbie about mx73's
apparently pink wiper boy digs them :/
i think 12 grand including engine would be really on the cheap for someone else to do
from what i've heard\read its quite easy to spend that on a quality mostly DIY JZ conversion

MX73's rule!
FWIW I spent about $10k on my 2JZ conversion, and that was using a half cut that cost me less than most 1JZ half cuts cost these days, and of course it was a shoestring-budget DIY affair. It's an expensive exercise no matter which way you go about it, and if you paid a workshop to do a quality job you're looking at more like $20k.
Is it worth it though? The grin on my face every time I nail the throttle says "YES".
