Which 4agze for my 4agte project.....

Hi All.....
Well.... I'm finally getting closer to compiling the components
for my 4agte project. But I've got a bit of a dilema.....
I'm looking at buying the 4agze engine of a guy who has both
version, the AW11 4agze (8.0:1 comp ratio), and the AE92 4agze
(8.9:1 Comp Ratio).
I currently have the Turbo manifold of Carl, and a T28 BB turbo
of the S15 silvia..... I'm also running the Subaru Water to air
IC.
Anyway.... I'm aiming at about 150kw at rear wheels, and
contemplating which engine to go for.... the AW11 or AE92 4agze.
Keep in mind my intake manifold is a Bigport , and the AE92
is a small port engine so either a head swap will be required, or
a new TVIs plate to addapt the Big port to small port.....
Which should I get? What are your recommendation / experiences?
Thanks
MIKE.

Well i'm pretty sure the afm ae92 4agze is a bigport, plus it is twincoil so I would probably go for that one.

Some say you should go for the map 4agze cause it has the oil squirters and the coils.
If you are going for a lot of power i have been told that the oil squirters become a hinderance more than anything. For what reasons i dont know.
At the end of the day if you do enough work to the engine you will change most of the stuff on it anyway so i doubt that oil squirters and coils will give you too much extra kw's if you know what i mean
What car is it going in?

G'day,
I have been told by many people that the big port afm 4agze (of which i'm trying to sell at the moment )is the prefered option due to the big port heads and low compression 8.0:1
It is already has a dual coil ignition setup and as soon as you get an aftermarket ecu you can get rid of the afm and put a map sensor in.

either can work really....
its like comparing the differences between 4age smallport and 4age bigport.
Personally i would go for the smallport, i have have better feelings about the increased air velocity vs overall flow - i like flat power vs colorado style peaks.

Hey All....
Thanks for all your replies..... I appreciate it.
I'm planning to put it into an MR2 AW11. I'm not planning on
too many mods after the conversion, as I'm only aiming at about
150 Kw at wheels..... Don't want to go too much as my standard
gearbox might not like going to high HP.
I'm also contemplating on getting the Small port, and performing
a swap of heads with my current big port head of my 4age.
Just toying with ideas..... at the moment while I still have
options. I'm also contemplating on simply going with the AW11
4agze and simply crank up boost a little higher to compensate
for lower compression.... good thing is it'll make more torque
Anyway... Thanks all for your feedback...... I'll keep you posted.
MIKE.

long story but my stuffed ae101 gte made 220rwhp @ 1 bar the other month and only got taken to 6300 as it was spitting nice amounts of oil into the catch can.. result = fried 1 and 4 pistons..
Its waiting for arias forgies (damn theyre slow, should be here in 2 weeks)
Setup is basically:
ae101 gze block
ae92 big port head (from previous setup)
arp head stud kit and rod bolts
bar + plate cooler
hks gt2510 + hks actuator
3" dump and exhuast
bigport 4age cams (prolly make 0 difference)
haltech e6k ecu
pretty much it..

IMO you should just go and get the gze box and put it in now. It's more trouble than its worth to keep pulling the engine in and out of an mr2. I know, i've had to do it at least 6 times in the last 4 months.
The easiest way to do it all would be get a half cut. I dont think it will be too easy to find a gze gearbox with driveshafts on their own????
Just a thought.
As for swapping heads, i wouldnt bother. As it's been said, you'll get the power you want with the turbo your putting on.
