PLZ Help!!! I need cheap W57 or W56 gearbox in great nick STAT! Tue, 03 September 2002 02:54 Go to next message
My box is gunna cost over $800 to get repaired, so i figured i might as well get a supra one. Anyone that has one thats in great condition and is less than $500 including freight I want to buy!
I'm in a real pickle as my car is at the workshop waiting for a heavy duty RPM clutch, and it turns out that the supplier has gone broke and i cant get one anymore! Now i have to get a custom one and pay big $$$'s and get the box fixed and pay too much money or get a new box and pay more money to get it custome fitted!

Any help would be muchly appreciated!!!! I'm am desperate Crying or Very Sad
Even a good W50 would be better than paying $800 on this one that might not handle the 300HP i intend giving it! Just need a good box thats cheap!ASAP!!

PLZ help!
Thanks
Ben

Dude, to fit a W58 to a RA28 you have to fiddle with the mounts. I got an auto crossmember and turned it around also, you can seperate the rubber bit from the steel bit and turn that around too (it was a while ago so memore is a little sketchy). The idea is to get the crossmember sitting as far back(or forward, I can't remember Wink ) as possible, then you can get one hole on each side to line up, you then have to weld a bit on and drill out for the other 2 holes.

Look at the transmission pic on the sixworks article on putting 1ggte's into early celicas. it has a shot of the crossmember, the 2 holes look off-center because they have been added.

If you don't have the auto crossmember then just modify the manual crossmember more (like the sixworks one)
