Back Seat Conversion to Bucket Seats

Hey guys, Ive got a 2000 4dr Hilux ute, and I want to get 4 sports seats put in, then make a sort of centre console between the back two seats for my subs and amps and stacker etc.
Ive had a look under the back bench seat, and i figure they will be fixed in position, not slideable etc, and the brackets to fit them are easily done, dads an engineer.
But I was just wondering if I would need an engineers certificate or something for that kinda modification.
Any ideas?

Yes an engineers certificate is required and the seats themselves need to be ADR approved. ie use SAAS seats or stock hilux seats.

Check with the RTA (or whoever) first.
Rememeber, the car is registered to carry 5 people, so maybe you have to keep that.

I *THINK* you can remove seats provided you remove all traces of the seatbelt as well, then again NSW probably has funny ideas

You need a blue plate to change the seating capicity.
