The 4ac has a v belt and the 4age has a ribbed belt, so the 4ac air co wont work, i have a air co compressor plus bracket of my blue top that you can purchase, if you like, where are you located

2 options:
1) Find a FWD/RWD 4AG air compressor = $$$$$$ (well for some )
2) Pull your 4ac comp out, remove the v-belt magnetic clutch (ie circlips and brearing), get a w-belt pulley off 4ag compressor or other car like camry(Unknown where to get from, friend used 4ag compressor wheel)
Problem:
4Ac are single wire A/C
4AG early is 2 wire:
4AG later is 3 wire
I don't know when they changed just they did.
It will likely be things like power, then power and speed, then power, speed and trigger. I don't know but easy to find out from manuals/web. You would just need to make sure the computer knows the air con is on. So it can idle-up.
I will be using 1) as I have one and easiest.

Dammit, forgot:
On 4AG RWD, the bracket is possibly unique: not sure but you cannot just use the 4AC bracket as the tensioner is for v-belted. Once again you could find another pulley on a w-belted car and swap. Many of the brackets around are for A/C AND power steering.

Regassing is $100->150 if you upgrade to R22 or whatever the newer refrigerant is. However, you should ask around and find someone to do it w/ R12 (The bad one for the enviroment). It is the best but you won't get warranty or anything as it is illegal.

i got the 4ac aircon on my 4ag, it works fine. although i'm running carbs. The efi bit will have something to do with the idle up possibly. I run a v-belt pulley from the 4ac on the 4ag, the timing cover need to be trimmed a bit so you can adjust the belt. It's still an A block so everything should bolt on, it's just a matter of if something else is in the way, ie the distributor is where the 4ac alternator goes, so needs to be relocated to the drivers side. I don't have powersteer though, does anyone with a ae86 have power steer?
It might be possible to leave the AC system as a totally seperate system from the efi. Just means you can't run the AC at idle, it engages the magnetic clutch, this slows the motor, the AC senses this and disengages the magnetic clutch, repeat to fade.
Good luck

I also know of 2 20v conversions that run V-belts for a/c (one even uses v-belted alternator). Both don't seem to have any problems.
I would personally use w-belts. but its a matter of parts available and work involved I guess.
