rear axle bearings installation Thu, 10 June 2004 01:42 Go to next message
I'm swapping the rear drums in my RA21 and have a question about the wheel bearings.I'm guessing I can cut the bearings off with and cutting wheel but do I need to take them to a shop to have new ones pressed in or can I install them myself?

you _can_ cut the collars off and remove the bearings yourself, (a PITA) but it's really a much better option to take the axles, new bearings and collars, to a mechanic with a 6 pack Wink and getting them to press the old off, and new on..

only takes them 10-15mins to do, and not worth the effort at home unless you happen to have a hydraulic press.

maybe friday afternoon is a good time to offer them beer pressies Very Happy (or ask them first Wink )
