Hey all, i was just wondering if the 13B turbo injectors will suit a 3T-GTE. i know that the normal 13b injectors will but just unsure if the turbo versions will work
Thanx all

they will fit in fine, however there are several varieties of injectors, high impedence and low impedence, what you use and how you set it ups depends on the computer you run, and the quality of in respect to being able to provide a low enough duty cycle to allow it to idle without running as rich as anything...

I am getting a 3T-GTE engine with W55 or W57 gearbox (not too sure yet) and it has a T28 turbo on it. the computer is just standard so i was just wondering which sort of injectors ie the 13B or the 13B Turbo ones i should use and which impedence would best suit it. Also if you think that there are better injectors that i would be able to use that would be better could you please recommend them to me.
Thanx

Standard computer must use high impedence injectors ie 12 ohms plus. The control of such injectors with the standard computer is limited. As Sracin suggest idle will be compromised

With a standard computer you should use standard injectors. If you want bigger injectors you need some way of re-mapping the computer to suit; this isn't possible with a standard computer so you have to go aftermarket.

But i thought that with a standard 3T-GTE the standard 13b injectors will fit? is this true or not?

Yes they will fit, but that doesn't mean your engine will work properly!

As Norbie says, something fits vs. something works are two very different things.
I have 13B 550cc series 5 (low impedance) injectors in my 3T-GTE. But I have an Autronic ECU to run the whole show.
I've heard of people playing with the spring tension in the AFM to assist with running larger injectors, I may even be guilty of trying this mod myself but results were quite poor in my opinion. Maybe others have had more luck with it.
I think if you are trying to get serious with larger injectors (must mean you want more boost?) then bite the bullet and get an aftermarket computer as the factory 3t-gte one is quite average!
Also take into account if you are wanting to run more boost, the stock pistons aren't renowned for strength.
Cheers

True True, i was going to get forged pistons later on in the future, when i'd saved enough money for them. How much would an aftermarket computer suited for this engine be roughly??
Also, are there any injectors better than standard that i could use and work properly??
Thanx heaps guys

I've never had a problem with standard injectors and computers, and have seen a 3TGTE using a standard computer and 13BT injectors successfully. His AFM was recalibrated on a dyno and I could not pick the difference between the standard setup and the Mazda injectors setup.

I will go with Norbie and Joel here. Factory 3T GTE injectors are low impedance so low impedance ones should be used (2 ohms I think). I used series 4 injectors because they use the square plug that suits the toyota socket.
My change from stock to 13BT injectors resulted in no idle - there was that much fuel.
As far as factory computer and 13BT injectors - why bother? IF you crunch the numbers as far as pressure drop before the turbo with that pissy trap door AFM and the resulting pressure ratio that you will result when the boost is wound up means that you will be robbing your own "you beaut" set up such that the gains will not equal the effort.

Yep, stock ECU uses low impedence injectors. Around 2 or 3 ohms.
I ran 440cc injectors with stock ecu and GT25 turbo by tuning the AFM. The spring tension you need on the stock AFM for big injectors is very high and does cause other problems.
Eg, you have to sacrifice either cold start conditions to get top end right with the AFM, or get cold start and idle right and then sacrifice top end power.
Although I did get reasonable results this way, mixing this type of tuning with boost above 10psi and stock pistons is not a good idea.
I'm now running a Microtech fuel/ignition setup which is soooo much better than the old set up and the nightmare tuning of the AFM etc.
Spend the $ on an aftermarket computer now and it could avoid you needing to replace pistons as well.
Cheers,
Simon

Hey thanx everyone for you help, its really appreciated. I'm going to go with Clint's advise which is to get the engine installed first and drive it around a bit to get used to it and then get an intercooler for it and put the boost up a lil. Then i'll finally save up for forged pistons.
Once again thanx all
