correct adhesive for gear shifter. . .

Hey guys, i know this is fairly trivial put it is causing me PAIN!
Ive cut my gear stick far below the thread, so when i attached a apare aftermarket (non-clamp) shifter i used liquid nails, however in warmer weather the stick can turn and move around a bit.
Anyone know of an adhesive that will set like a rock without oxygen?

See if a local panel shop will spare you a bit of Sika Flex

sika flex do a whole range of sealant/adhesives... i used one of their adhesives for this exact job, but it too ended up twisting...
ive got the product number of the one i used the second time around which (so far) has proved to be perfect. ill dig up the number and get back to you

Would help to roughen up the top section of the shaft where the knob will be as the adhesive needs somthing to bite to. Smooth metal not being one of those.

or see if you can borrow or hire a tap/die set from bunnings or a mate or something, then just get the correct thread spacing n run that down ur stick. No more glue needed

if its a vibration damping shifter theres not enough material to tap, so adhesive is the only real option.

Or else do what I do, remove the rubber section, and weld a sensible sized/length piece of steel onto there, and run a thread on the end

Drill small holes into the top of the stick, and scuff up the inside of the knob with a knife.
Liquid nails is too soft... use epoxy or somthing like that.

or you can do a dodgy and not use the shifter... i keep mine in the glove box, when i get pulled over or anything i just pull it out, whack it on and no ones the wiser...
i do this cause i hate gear knobs, even the slim line ones... in my TA22 i got the T50, pulled out the grinder, cut it in half, filed the edge to remove sharpness and away we go
