I would say yes... But it depends on what its bolting on to... as I don't have an 86 I don't know if its just bolting into the floorpan or what.

it looks like it keeps the rear of the chassis rails the same distance apart...
is there anything even structural there??? is it to keep the hatch from flexing??
to be honets, unless you have a problme with the car spontaneously crumpling inwards, i don't think this device will help anything but your ego...

theres nothing really back there for it to be reinforcing, maybe if you got hit in the side by another car..
think about the way the rear suspension works on a sprinter.. to me, i dont think this would do much. you do see them on some factory cars.. maybe on type r hondas and r34 skylines? but they have irs, more likely to be channeling forces transversly through the rear of the chassis.

This would do squat all, as there is nothing back there to brace. Looks like another shiny bit for the sake of having shiny bits.

that wouldnt even reduce twist as the bars arent big enough to counter it , it wont brace because its not mounted in the right place. I say buy it, itll add at least 20Kws of POWAH!

I thought it was to attach my harness to similar to the RX7 we had in the shop with harnesses attached to the rear strut brace.

seems a bit silly to attach the harness all the way back there. but its more sensible than my idea.
