because i wouldn't wanna continue doing patches in my ST162, any idea's on engine's gearboxes, cars (combinations) that would have that kind of RWD fun and be reliable and strong etc.
Holden and Ford tough jhehhehe i know a W50 is almost a certainty.....

Do you want it to be just a burnout car? How much do you want to spend?
Just buy a tough Ford! An XD or XE can be had for reasonably cheap! The straight six will last for ever, then fit a trans cooler and it should be fine too!

In the XD and XE you it wont be just a matter of putting ya foot down to smoke the wheels! You may need a bit of wet road or a manual box!

yea
are the VL's mechanically as strong tho?
cause i'd imagine the EFI system of the RB30 would make it more plesent to drive over longer distances (fuel consumption)

i can tell your a Ford man
nah just thinking, i have the ST162 at the moment, and i'd prolly perfer not to 3SGTE it and just sit tight for a while and save some money,
then maybe a new car thats faster, RWD
thinking VL-T Calais
but handelling wise, their a bit of a joke also that interior is a joke, actually the only thing thats not a joke is that engine.

Well if you want a run about car and a burn out car all in one, I recommend the EF or EL! They are pretty cheap and well I dont know what you mean about the handelling but they are usally pretty good! Anyway a good lowering job will fix any problems! You wont have to worry about the engine they are bullet proof! Just the transmission you need to worry about! You would need a cooler if it was a auto! You wont have any problems with the manuals!

any EB - EL has good fuel economy - parents did a run from melb to bris to melb again for 260 dollars
they are thirsty around town - but not overly so ..
very easy to drive - just need a few minor susp. upgrades to make them handle a treat too.
If you want power to Churn - fund yourself an XD or XE with a 351 on gas - youll have tyres that last about hmm - 10 minutes if you play too much and it wont hurt your pocket to feed the beast
dollar for dollar it was cheaper to run my dads 6.2 litre ( rebored 351 ) fairlane on a 100 KM trip then it was to feed the celica for the same trip
Vl's are ok - but they have a tendany to erm Snap down the middle under load - cant tow for crap , and the bodywork leaves alot to be desired - Diffs and engines are good thanks to Nissan and borg warner - though the RB 6 is hampered ALOT by stupid holden design that doesnt allow sufficient coolign to the head due to a poorly placed radiator - hence lots have cracked heads
- but then again anything with a holden badge of that age really should be squished.

It depends how you are driving! If you drive hard it will use lots of fuel! When its cold it will say it is using lots of fuel! But the EF onwards are really good on fuel!

hmmm,i was looking at the differences in the RB30ET and RB20/25/26
the power of the RB30-T isn't too bad considering the age of it,
its not uncommon to hear of them reaching the 200Kw range with a bit of a play
but then i get the thought of it being a big car thats not gunna feel as responsive as my stock ST162 heheh
cause every time i took an Ma61 out for a drive it felt like shit compared to my celica, maybe its because the power on the 5M-E's is very poor so my celica felt allot lighter because of the 3S-GE power!

What do you mean ugly? You mean the car? You could always do that to a EF or EL!
I have spoken to that guy about doing it to my AU Futura! And I may just do it when I get my licence back!

If you just want fun, thne buy anything with a 308 or 351 in the trading post. they are often 500 bucks for toranas and shit. Not the pinicle of technological developement but with the change you get you can buy heaps of re-treads!!

Handelling not good on a VL??? You have to be kidding!! I own a 1986 Executive VL thats only got super low kings springs and buggered stock struts and now worn out 205 Falken tyres (showing wire) and I can out handel a lot of my mates cars. A 1992 TX3 4WD with stock suspension and 17" rims, 1990 Turbo Silvia with 16" rims, 1998 Excel with 17" rims and $2500 Whiteline kit (he wins in the looks department though when he lifts his rear tyre in the air...dam that looks cool!). I think they handle great for a big car. I'd love to put some new tyres on, new shocks and some swaybars and see how well they go.
And another thing if you want a burnout car sure VL's do great ones but it must be a 5 speed. THe Autos still do them wonderfully but gearboxes are weak and apparently expensive. I try and limit myself as much as possible
