$485 does sound high Shocked

How about these:
http://images3.fotki.com/v37/photos/1/12090/417152/09250002-vi.jpg
The sleeves (blue) with collars (gold) are from Fulcrum Suspension and cost $77 a pair - not each, a pair. I don't have a price on the hats but ring Fulcrum and ask them. For more pics of Xt131 struts shortened and made into coil-overs, see http://fookseung.fotki.com/automotive-1/ke35/front _strut_setup/.

Hope this is helpful,

Dominic

$77 per PAIR ??? Shocked Shocked Shocked Shocked

You're shitting me ? Do they have a web address/phone no. that you can order them through ?

At that price I'll take a set !! I have a set of springs in the shed that I will be able to use as well !!!

Cheers

Michael B

EDIT :

Just spoke to Fulcrum, and to get what is pictured is $180. It is $77/pair for the threaded collars, $77/pair for the upper spring plate, and $27.50 for a pair of spanners.

Not so cheap but still pretty good.

thats very cheap dude! I can see one small probelm though, they look like they are Alloy, do they have a way of mounting them to the legs? Most of the threaded tubes are steel, so you weld the to the leg.

Yeah, like I said in my original message "The sleeves (blue) with collars (gold) cost $77 a pair - not each, a pair. I don't have a price on the hats but ring Fulcrum and ask them." $77 is for a pair of sleeves and collars. Not the hats, not the spanners, not springs, not fitting, etc, etc.

For all who have asked, yes the sleeves are anodised ali. There's plenty of meat on them (about 4mm thick in the threaded area) so I think they're up to the job. I suspect if you were adjusting them a lot the threads might start to gall but, really, once they're set up, how often do you adjust them? Total adjustment range is 85mm. Yes, they will need a support ring welded to the strut to sit on. Also, the sleeves may need a light cut up the inside (50mm dia) to fit over your strut tubes - that will depend on the diameter of your struts. A six-pack to a friendly fitter/turner should see that done - every car modifier should know at least one tame fitter/turner Smile.

The Fulcrum hats aren't particularly remarkable (particularly if they really are $77/pr) and I didn't buy any for my application (although what I'm doing is a fair way out of the ordinary anyway Smile ). The hats are cast ali, supplied completely unmachined i.e. not even drilled for the strut shaft. I would get the aforementioned friendly machinist to turn some up for me.

Fulcrum are Brisbane based and their web site is http://www.fulcrumsuspensions.com.au

Hope this info is helpful,

Dominic

I can get what you need.
it'll be $150us plus shipping from the states.
350# & 450# springs come in the kits.
collars are 4" long so you have about 3.5" for adjustment.
comes with everything needed.
For tubes that are smaller in dia then the AE86/TA22/RA21
there are rubber O-rings that slide around the tubes and the sleve fit over those.
Mine fit like a glove. I even had to clean off the tubes to get the sleves to fit.
heres some pics of them on my car
http://www.classic-celica.com/modules.php?set_albu mName=Will-s-72&id=DCP02679&op=modload& ;name=gallery&file=index&include=view_phot o.php
click back and forth there are 3 pics of the coilovers.

For an extra 1" of travel in the springs and other spring rates
the Cost is $200 + shipping.

rough guess at shipping is $45us. for approx size box and weight, surface mail 4-6 weeks.

Let me know if i can help ya.

i think i'll just go with the T3 coilover kit. $245AUD delivered to your door, everything you need including any rate spring, hats and spannars etc. the sleve has a whomping 6inches of travel and is designed to fit AE86 struts perfectly.

6" of travel and 6" of adjustably are 2 separate things.
Stiff springs with less travel bottom more easily..
same rate springs, longer free length take more compression to bottom.
Also when you do lower it without lowering the bottom of the strut tube you lose that much more "travel"

now i'm not sure about T3 stuff..i've heard ppl say their stuff breaks.. i'm waiting for 3sglevin to quote me on Noltec kit..no more fulcrum sleeves since they are made of alloy... Sad

Rust? these are Alumimun sleves, corrode maybe, rust no.
to be honest the only sleves i've even seen for coilovers that were steel were on an offroad racing coilover setup with 18" of travel and remote res for the shock.. they were also like $1250us for a PAIR. Shocked

What's the problem with alloy? They're anodised so they'll stay in good condition pretty much forever without corrosion/oxidation. They're thicker wall than the steel strut tubes that currently hold the car up so strength shouldn't be an issue. As wil8115 says, most aftermarket coil-over kits use alloy sleeves.

guys, the threaded sleeves need to be solidly secured to the strut tube, the usual method is welding. At last check, we cant weld steel to aluminium alloy, so you have big problem!!!. the fulcrum ones are meant to sit on a steel ring that gets welded to the strut body. they must be a tight fit over the strut tube, so you must choose carefully, otherwise the rattles will drive you mad. the cheap kits use O rings to take up any slack between the tube inner and the strut tube outer. a short thread is not a problem so long as you have various coil lengths. In general, for road cars, you need about 250mm long coils otherwise the coil goes slack on rebound, and rattles like crap. alterntively, you can use a "helper" spring, which is a flat steel spring , but you need an adaptor ring to buttt up to the main coil.
