	Hi all..

I want to fit a new lambda oxy sensor...

Obviously i dont fancy paying out for the toyota price.. so has anyone successfully used a universal replacement , perhaps from bosch etc? If so which one exactly did you use?

Is the stock 1J lambda heated?

cheers

manny, are you sure it isnt heated? I emailed a supplier of lambdas and they reckon all 3 wire jap lambdas are heated?

	Adi
OK, to clarify what I meant to say, the VVTi is a 4 wire sensor and the non-VVTi is a 3 wire sensor.
I have read here that the 3 wire 1JZ one is not heated but I've never personally tested it or looked it up on the schematics and I assumed the extra wire on the latter 1JZ indicated it was heated.

3 wire 'should' all be heated.. the lack of a fourth wire is usually because the signal is earthed thru the body of the sensor.
the 4 wire ones have a seperate earth to minimise earthing problems through the exhaust/head/block/chassis/ECU.

new 4 wire, $60+$4postage.

and again, some wire colours for common sensors for different car makers

http://home.earthlink.net/~jcgebhart/o2sens.html
does this match up with the sensors you have?

yep, it lists one otf the toyota ones as blue, black black.. with black as the heated wires. So in theory any universal 3 wire with a heated element should work..
