hi
just wondering what people think should be done to a motor before it started for the first time in about 12 months
so far i went to have the injectors cleaned but they were screwed so i got new reconditioned ones, ive replaced the spark plugs and put in new top gun leads. I've flushed the coolant as best as i could with out the motor running. And i've drained the oil that was left in the sump about 3 litres of the stuff and put in fresh oil with that wynns oil flush stuff that is supposed to get rid of sludge and stuff. Again i havent run the engine yet, (not wired) but is there anything else i should do?? i have a new water pump to go in but i ran out of time when the engine was out so i think i'll just get a mechanic to put it in for me as soon as the car is up and running again.
cheers

Take the plugs out, squirt some oil down the bores and crank the engine for 30 seconds or so (pull out the EFI fuse first). That way everything will be nicely lubed before you start it.

hi
i would personaly use wd40 or inox etc
because it wont glaze the bore over as oil does when its burnt and no matter how much u turn it over there will always be oil left in there.

Should take the tappet cover off and drown the cams in oil when you fill the motor. Some oil down the bores and wind over by hand a couple of times then replace plugs and fire up engine.
Did this to mine which was sitting for 2 years and no problems at all except for a heap of smoke while it burnt the oil off.

wd40 and inox are both very different substances, with different purposes
people have been using normal engine oil during engine assembly for the last 100+ years, it's perfectly fine to use in your engine too
just a little squirt like 5mL is fine. buy an "infant feeding" syringe from the chemist, they come with a little length of tube, or any syringe and just use a (clean) length of windscreen washer hose or vacuum hose, it makes getting the oil out of the bottle and down the spark plug tube a whole lot easier
