What becomes of the broken hearted? Mon, 21 June 2004 07:54 Go to next message
Over the last two weeks my life has been cursed. Flipped my 84 celica, may have to pay for a pole and im going to court....reason enough to get my 2t/3t on the road..

got my arse in gear and got the mechanic to tune the carbs and the cam timing, he did that finally and i got to drive it home. ive done the cams, complete reconditioned head, flywheel, etc etc so ive spent about 2.3 grand on the motor Smile

i was driving like a real pussy, coz the motors barely been driven. but it felt like there was definate power there, atleast more than there was. coming out of a roundabout, the fu*kin thing starts making a chain saw noise so i put it in neutral and rolled to the side and turned it off. it wouldnt turn over. so im worried. im thinking the timing chain had slipped off again which screwed it up the first time coz the ppl before me didnt build it right. so im thinking a few valves etc will need replacing. so i was angry.

got it apart yesterday, and yippee oh yippee ay? the mother fuck*er has blown a piston, f*ked the bore in one cylinder, screwed a couple of valves and damaged the head Smile Smile Smile Very Happy

now im thinking it wasnt the mechanics fault coz if it was, it wouldve done it when we started it. oh god, im shattered, dont wanna sound like 'im a really mad internet boy' or nuttin, but geez. the piston mustve just given way...excellent!

so, i dunno, ive gotta see how bad the bore is. but im thinking my only options are getting another 3t piston, getting it cut, sleaving the bore or something, and replacig the valves and repairing the head. more money on the piece of shit. but then i run the risk of it happening again. gimme some suggestions boys...Sad

hmm, just pulled it all apart and the bore is buggered. but here is where it gets a lil interesting. the piston hasnt burst on its own accord....the valve has dislodged and smashed into it. AND it has the original valves. so what? well i took it to mnw who charged me 2 grand for a fair bit of work, and part of that was for new valves and a reconditioned head.

game on.
