Yeh Im hoping it is the same, but I havnt had a chance to have a look yet, my car is at an exhaust workshop having alu piping made up for the intercooler and air intake.
Which way would be better, getting the speedo sensor or if the MX73 dash sensor is the same as the MX83 one, just hook that upto the ECU.

I have ordered a speed sensor through Grant at sixworks, and he said you use that to hook up the 1JZ to MX73 dash, and the speed signal to the ECU comes from the speedo
itself and can be found on any schematic for the MX73

Ahh, just to clarify something here; I only supply Tacho Boosters and not speed sensors. For 1J Cressida conversions you only ned to swap out the speed sensor and fit the 7M speedo drive to get the speedo working. The speed signal can then be connected directly to the 1J ecu from wire SP1 that comes from the Cressida speedo.
While I can get speed signal generators that plug in-line to the speedo cable, they are only required for conversions on early model cars (like Celicas) that don't already have a speed signal wire from the speedo. Even then you can get around the problem by using a speed sensor and pick-up from a non-ABS 7M box.
