The legal system how relialble is it?

Went to court 2day over a speeding matter that has been hanging over my head last 10 months. I know heaps of ppl that have done alot worse things then what i have done and get off with a reduced sentence and slap on the wrist. They question i ask is how fair is the legal system and is it doing the job it is ment to. I am sure most judges can tell when a person is really sincere for what they have done and a person that couldnt give 2 shits about what they done. I was given the max penalty for what i have done, i understand do the crime you do the time. People make mistakes so why not give them a chance. I ask is the court system really doing the job it is meant to when they let drunken drives off with a slap on the wrist and ppl like me that have only a few speeding and neg driving marks against there name the max penality they can apply.
ps b4 u ask iam not willing to tell you how long a suspension i got.

The thread topic title is illogical.
It goes against all that is structured and natural in the world.
Damn anarkists.

I cant complain - got off my neg driving fine
seriously tho, in these sort of cases, it depends entirely too much on the magistrate. What mood he's in, what impression he gets of you.
If he sees a turkish bloke who was caught speeding in a wrx, what are his chances of getting leniency, even if he only had 1 other speeding fine one record? not much. Biases come into it... you've just gotta learn how to twist the facts, generate very believable extenuating circumstances, and add in a dash of "It was stupid, I wont ever be doing that again" crap.
erm.. brain is trailing off here, cant hold a thought for more than a few mninutes

thats it at the end of the day its what mood the judge is in i have been told sutherland local court is a very hard court. My lawyer done the best job he could the judge just didnt want to have a bar of it. I think he was to worried about up holding the rules of the rta and not about weather i had learnt my lession or not.

yeah its pretty wierd,
guy who crashed into my old car out the front of my place (i live at the end of a street where there is a T intersection) was being chased by the cops after doing a burnout out the front of a servo. turns off the highway when the cops put on thier lights and he puts his foot down. he's doing 150-200 in a suburban street getting airborne along with the cops and eventually sees my car at the T intersection. slams on the brakes and skids for about 50 metres before writing off my kingswood. He was in a R33, owned by his mate in the passenger seat.
He blew .2 at the scene and .15 at the station...
saw the owner of the skyline randomly at maccas and he said the guy got a 2/3yr suspension and a fine of couple of hundred dollars.
WTF??????

i've represented myself the couple of times i've contested traffic\speeding violations and gotten off both times with nothing more than a slap on the wrist.
Perhaps the judge through the book at you for using a lawyer for something as unsubstantial as a speeding fine(you never know)...but i agree, the mood of the judge and his\her impression of you does have alot to do with it

Want to talk about being screwed?
The person I hit (pedestrian) admitted in court to deliberately jumping in front of my car, yet I get 12mths, $800- and a conviction. The guy before me go nothing for getting caught 3 time in a day driving while disqualified and speeding each time.
That was 18 mths ago. Licence back 1 mth and I have another where I seem to have blacked out and run off the M2. 20 km of motorway and I dfo it guess where, right where there is a cycllist. Todays d day whert the doc says wether or not I have a medical defence. If so I should be fairly ok in termns of charges if not I'm looking at min 3 yrs (jail) for dangerous driving where I have no recollection. Medical defense would also mean that I would never work again doin what I do (commercial diver).

is the cyclist ok? you had eplipsey before? you blacked out before? if yes to either the last to and you will be in jail no question. what you have to watch is that the police P dosnt get a bee in his bonett and charge you with attempted murder! reason being this is the second person you have run over where most people are lucky{most just dream about taking out the cyclist on a major three lane road in peak hour that causes hassles for cars) to run over one person in there life. if your medical condition was predispossed you are in big trouble i think!
